It's finally here! The latest and greatest 10 week test of classic gaming ability. With approval from Syd and Douche, Fernin and I present this year's NES championships.
Most of you should be familiar with the format by now, but if you're new to this and are interested in participating, I'll explain what this is all about. The contest will consist of 10 challenges of varying style for 10 different games over the course of 10 weeks. Each week, a new challenge will be posted in a new thread, with a description and game file and any necessary save files provided for you. Before the deadline at the end of each week, you'll submit the movie file via an e-mail attachment to either myself or Fernin for it to count. Further details will be provided when the competition begins.
To makes things easier, you'll all be using the same emulator, so go find and download VirtuaNES v0.97. This particular emulator has been simple and reliable for movie recording purposes, which is why we use it.
I'll include recording instructions/etc. when the competition begins.
Are you excited yet? Well, you should be. Signing up is as simple as posting in this thread. Just reply with some affirmation of an intent to participate, and I'll put you on the sign-up list.
The competition starts on Monday, November 15 at 12:00 AM EST. You have until the 22nd to sign-up.

The emulator is for Windows. I would suggest using some kind of virtual PC program if you want to enter, there are a couple (at least) that I know of. You would likely need a windows OS to install and then upgrade direct x as well, but if you want to be a champion, that won't stop you.

Can I suggest a challenge? Scorched Earth Super Mario Brothers, acquire a fire flower in the first level, and to proceed to kill EVERYTHING with fireballs. Give up to sheer frustration when you hit the flying fish level.
