Original Source

No big deal right? A homeless guy with a radio voice...

WRONG

Listen to all the Job offers this guy gets.

But none of that compares to the big offer:

Start it at: 5 minutes
From the Cleveland Cavaliers: A full-time job and a home.

Wow, that's not the voice I expected to come out of that mouth! Hope he gets the job.

I want him to narrate my life. Good for him with getting a job and all, though.

I just noticed this today on YouTube and I was just shocked that he really did have a voice of Gold. What makes me sad is all the people saying he is asking for handouts, and begrudge him because they "went to college and a homeless man is offered money because he did drugs." This man was on the side of the road asking for a dollar at a time. Get a life people none of those people will ever experience living behind a gas station. He did in fact get the job with the Cavaliers, he has a 2 year contract. Good for him, except once his contract expires he'll probably head down to do the announcing for the Miami Heat.

Being someone who would love to go into voice over work, I am very jealous. The guy seems like a good person and hopefully he can get his situation turned around. Good to see he's off drugs and wants to change his life, but hopefully this change doesn't make his life worse. People can be pretty humble when they have nothing, but once the popularity of his story goes away, those opportunities could dry up. Let's just hope he stays on the right path and doesn't blow all of his new money or anything. I think of the situation with that other homeless guy who was given like $100,000 and about a year later, he was back on the streets.

Also, look for this to be made into a movie in the next 2 years starring Will Smith.

"I'm gonna make you work for your dollar"? Fuck you, guy. Way to sound like a complete and utter asshole.

Other than that, happy to see he's able to put his talent to good use and get a job. Good for him.

Yeah really, I've never asked the homeless dude I give food to all the time to do anything. I'd feel like a jerk asking him to do a little dance or something, because he's only got one leg.

A CNN News report talks about how the guy that video taped him is a truly righteous person who helps the needy and blah blah blah. He sat on the story for 5 weeks until there was a slow news day. Asshole.

However I think his "I'm going to make you work for your dollar" is being taken the wrong way. How many people do you think actually have him talk to prove he has a vocal talent. They probably just gave him money and said take care. So this guy says I want to hear your voice thereby making him working for his dollar.

This was also the second meeting between the two.

Yeah, I don't think the "I'm going to make you work for your dollar" is that bad. He made him talk. Which is what his sign promoted anyway.

If he would have said "dance for me and pick up my dry cleaning" while laughing his ass off, I would have been "what an asshole"

I'm sure that's how he meant it--I didn't mean to imply that the guy actually WAS an asshole, just that his phrasing and the way he said it sounded rather dickish to me.

Way I look at it is, hes been completely honest with his drug/alch and criminal background. He was talking about all of it on the morning show.

Way to try to kick the man back down when he finally starts to climb up.

Not to mention that a lot of homeless people end up in the hoosegow repeatedly, usually for vagrancy or similar things. So the guy's a felon, so what? Second chances.

Also if you read the article

"watched recently as he and his female friend stripped to their underwear as they changed into dry clothes during a rainstorm."

Yeah fuck those homeless people for not freezing to death in a rain storm

Did I say anything about trying to kick him back down? I just happened to find that article. However he has as recently as 6 months ago been breaking into people's cars. Maybe he's beyond all that now and would like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but breaking into car as recently as 6 months ago? Sounds a little fishy to me.

If you've ever been homeless, even for a few weeks, it's not quite as fishy. I can't imagine what more than a year would be like, but I lived on the streets for a while, and you know what? It fucking sucks hardcore. Sleeping under a car to stay marginally drier in a snowstorm is some bull.

I'm sorry to hear that you had to endure that and I understand that being homeless can cause some people to do things they might not do otherwise, but breaking the law, especially breaking into cars really does get under my skin. I just posted what any business should do and that is check his background and how recent his arrest sheet is. Would you honestly hire someone who has a large criminal record and has criminally active within the last year? I believe in second chances as much as anyone, and aeonic, you seem like living proof of that, especially if you did it on your own, not most people have that luxury. However, with Ted's situation, I think it's beyond "turning his life around" at this point, since he's getting that with his job, it has to do with staying on the path, something I really do hope he's able to do.
