Worth what? It's free to sign up for, and you can buy games and download them immediately via the service.
So I guess the real question is, would you rather buy games in the store or by direct download?

Hhhmm, I guess they haven't dropped support for it yet. I'm still getting the automated steam message though that tells me that I wont be able to use steam after then. I guess I'm just lucky.

They are simply keeping up with the times. As far as I know, they haven't dropped a game yet due to OS incompatibility. They simply dropped an old OS.
