Well, I know you've all played the fuck out of DuckTales, and some of you even know there's a special ending for having more than $10,000,000 (you SHOULD know, It was my very first YouTube series).
Turns out there's a third ending if you had $0 at the end, but it was always assumed impossible to get.
UNTIL NOW!
Turns out there's a trick where you can pay $3 million bucks to refill your life, just hit the Select button. Some careful manipulation of money totals, and you can spend all your cash in the final area just in time to win the game.

Trick doesn't work, just tried it. This would have been in every hint guide ever if it was a legit trick. Pressing SELECT? No one ever fucking thought of that? Yeah, okay. This is a complete fucking con.
I tested it myself earlier and got it to work just fine with three hit points, you just need at least 3 million in your stash. Having 2 million in the stash and at least 1 million on you won't work (though, that's just my best guess on why it didn't work for you initially.)

hmmm... maybe. I'm pretty sure I had 3 million in the stash on the first save file I tried on, maybe not.

I'm kind of hurt you questioned my integrity. You did realize that was my video, right? That I tested it myself?
As Fernin said, you need to have the cash in your stash, and it only works if you're missing hit points.
And to be honest, I'm shocked that never became common knowledge.

He probably just played it from the browser and didn't realize it was made and tested by you personally.
Also, really, really awesome Usa. How did you figure this out?

21 years. Let that sink in. It took 21 years for this ending, let alone the trick for getting it, to be discovered.

The ending was discovered a long time ago, actually, by people who took the game apart. It was just believed to be impossible to get.
Awesome. I love the bunny. Just spent a little time trying to get it and haven't yet but am sure I will.

That is -not- happening by accident. You need an exact amount of money and you need to actively "spend" it enough times to get down to 0.
You could end up with a multiple of 3 million in your stash without trying, it's just statistically unlikely. Before I knew the trick, I got the Gyro bonus round without trying. And every time I ever got a coin ship in SMB3 it was by accident.
Again, this is statistically MUCH harder to do at random. If you were going to do it by accident, you'd probably be at $9 million. There's no way you'd end up at $6 million by accident.

You'd also have to know about the trick and use it intentionally.
And "that is -statistically unlikely to- happen by accident" lacks a certain punch.
I just did a run where I tried to get as many points as possible. I grabbed all the treasure attainable before each Launchpad, then used enemies to farm my score into Gyro range, grabbed both bonus treasires, and intentionally died right before I was ready to fight each boss so that I could get more points from the timer. My final score was 12,466,000. If I had been more patient, and really abused enemy farming and the Transylvania extra lives trick, I probably could have gotten it up to around 14,000,000. But someone who trying for a high score and was slightly less patient or clever could potentially end up with 12,000,000 even.
...and be very unlikely to want to spend that cash.
But, yes, $12 mil is possible to get, and I'd even wager $15 mil wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility. I'm not sure how you could exploit the 1-up loop. Diamonds don't respawn until you leave the level, and I think enemies only drop an item once (I never got them to drop more than once anyways). And taking the mirror out of Transylvania doesn't save your cash.
That's a very impressive total. In my $10 mil walkthrough, I got $11,155,000.
Enemies will drop items multiple times, but it's random, and you can go long stretches without a drop. I used the rabbit at the bottom of the rope right under Launchpad to farm $120,000 in my run. So the way you'd boost your money total with the 1UP loop is to max out at 9 lives with the Transylvania loop. And use your extra lives to farm money in a chosen level, then refill then to max before going to the next level. It's probably actually better to use all your lives money-farming than to do the timer boost, but I'm not sure.
The enemies that drop diamonds are:
Slugs (African Mines) - Small diamonds.
Apes (Amazon) - Small diamonds.
Bees (Amazon) - Small diamonds.
Tribesmen (Amazon) - Large diamonds.
Rabbits (Himalayas) - Large diamonds.
Fat Aliens (Moon) - Large diamonds.
Red Aliens (Moon) - Large diamonds.
The Snakes in the Amazon might drop diamonds too, I forget.
Dunno if Spiders or Aquaducks drop money, but frankly, it's not worth the effort.
Not sure if the Beagle Boys drop anything, and it's not worth the risk.
The Hockey Ducks drop Cakes.
Everything else that can be killed with your cane drops Ice Cream.
Nothing in Transylvania drops diamonds.
The African Mines is the worst level (aside from Translyvania, where it's impossible) for farming, and it takes some real patience.
I've never had a Beagle Boy drop anything either. And I didn't know what enemy dropped what was set. Huh.
Are you sure nothing in Transylvania drops diamonds? I got a large diamond from a skeleton duck once, I swear. It was even in the "empty" Transylvania, which made it super-weird. Glitch?
You're probably better off farming for cash, yeah. Each second left on the clock is $1,000 .
Are you sure it's every second? I completed the Mines with 500 left on the timer, and I feel like I only got $50,000 and not $500,000....
I think you may be right about the skeleton ducks. Honestly, I think I killed maybe one in this run, but now that you mention it, I think I do recall getting diamonds from them in Transylvania 2.0 as well.
Also, in the mines, you'll want to actually grab the diamonds from the three chests that lead to the 1UP. The $30,000 you'll get from them is a lot more satisfying than grabbing the extra life and trying to get 15 slugs to drop small diamonds.
TESTED: Skeleton Ducks do indeed drop large diamonds.
It could be $100 per second, now that I think about it. I needed $11,000 to get 6 mil even so I had to run the timer down to 110 seconds, so...yeah. I fail math.
