Am I the only one who thinks this movie looks incredibly stupid? It's just a bunch of owls making a big production of, for all intents and purposes, calling the police.

It's gonna have its audience however; the same audience who's gonna see Alpha and Omega for the wrong reasons.

Incorrect. I honestly cannot wait to see this movie. Not only does the story look fun, the animation is great. Besides, I love epic quest stories, I love owls, and I love a bunch of people in the voice cast. I mean, Geoffrey Rush, Sam Neil and Hugo Weaving? Plus an epic quest? PLUS a bunch of really kick-ass owls? Fuck, and yes! Nod

Get it? It's an owl joke.

But really though, I'm not familiar with any of those names.

Geoffrey Rush = Captain Hector Barbossa from Pirates of the Carribean
Hugo Weaving = Agent Smith in the Matrix, V in V for Vendetta, Elrond Halfelven in Lord of the Rings, etc. and so on.

Eh, I'm getting tired of seeing the latest kiddie book series being turned into epic motion pictures.

Nothing against the source material, but I think I'm skipping this one.

I only knew about this movie because the trailer was being shown at E3 running in 3D on the 3DS.

Doesn't seem like my thing personally, though.

Looks like it could be good. It kinda reminds me of that How to Train Your Dragon movie. I liked that so I might see this.

And give me a break...Sam Neil was Dr. Allen Grant in Jurassic Park!

All three of them are amazing actors that will convince me to see any movie by the mere fact of their being in it. And I don't care what you all say, this movie is going to be awesome dammit! Mad

That may be true, but I'd bet anything it bombs at the box office.

You could easily be right. It seems like they're trying to draw in the little kid crowd with the emphasis on "by the creators of Happy Feet!" But from what I understand about the story, and from the vibe that the trailer gives off, this is going to be a lot closer to Secret of NIMH/Watership Down territory than it will be to cute dancing penguins. That could keep a lot of people away. I hope not though...if this is as good as I hope it's gonna be, I'd like to see them do at least the third book (this movie covers the first and second I think.) Then again, if nothing else is opening that weekend for the little kids, maybe all the families will go see the animated owl movie. *shrug*

Not, of course, that box office is indicative of quality (*coughScottPilgrimcough*), but it is interesting to speculate about. We'll have to see.

Secret of NIMH/Watership Down territory definitely increases my interest.

I saw the trailer in 3D and it looked shitty. But I like director Zack Snyder so I'll probably see it if it's presented in English in the theatres, wich I doubt because is a movie for children. I don't know....maybe some day, comfortable at home in plain and old 2 dimensions....

I want to see it, but I'm skeptical that it'll live up to the books (which were surprisingly good!). Whether it'll tank or not... well, admittedly, this hasn't been a good year for the box office in any fashion, so it's quite possible.

I just saw a preview for this on TV like 2 seconds ago. This movie looks horrible.

Ok, looking back at my previous post, I feel like I need to rephrase myself.

Thing is, maybe the story's good, but something about the movie does anything but thrill me. Maybe it has something with the fact that I didn't like Happy Feet, or that I'm tired of 3D being shoved to my face (and/or wallet).

Might wait for DVD or torrent, but otherwise, yeah...

I gotta admit I'm not thrilled with the way the owl's faces look exactly like the penguins from Happy Feet either. Still can't wait to see it though.

Double post only to say saw the movie, loved it. It wasn't QUITE Secret of NIMH, but it had plenty of awesome mid-flight owl fights, the bad owl was suitability evil, the voice cast was awesome, and overall it was a ton of fun. Recommended, especially if you have a few drinks beforehand like I did. Awesome stuff. Very Happy

It's all good. It's not LoTR, but it's still exciting and fun, buzzed or not.

And they replace him and the rest of the cast with an Ipod, a microwave, a laptop and a an Xbox. And it's a whole Toy Story cross over. And it's in space for some reason.
