Well Not quite a heist, but more of a robbery I suppose...
A man in Motorcycle helmet walked into the Bellagio with a gun, stole roughly 1.5 MILLION Dollars worth of Chips, then hauled ass out.
Apparently he was in and out in approx. 3 minutes.
My question is, Where the hell was security? The pit bosses? the ANYONE.
It happened at 3:50am so there probably wasn't as much staff on hand, but still. That's a HUGE name casino to get robbed like that.

It happens. Security can't be everywhere at once, and to be honest, if I were robbing a casino I'd make sure security was distracted.
It's not likely he'll be able to cash those chips in any time soon. If he's smart, and he appears to be, he'll unload them on other people.

Oh yeah, and also...

Investigators said the suspect is likely the same man who robbed the Suncoast casino, 9090 Alta Drive, on Dec. 9. In that robbery, the man robbed a cashier's cage near where a poker tournament was going on.
Police said the Suncoast robber got away with just less than $20,000. |
Seems to have seriously stepped his game up the second time around.

Man, I had a crazy morning. I don't want to get into it, but anyone willing to take some Bellagio chips off my hands for 50 cents on the dollar?

My vegas knowledge may be wrong but he could come back to the casino and use them or do what the rabbit said and push them off to other people. He could easily sit at a high stakes table or even lower and cash them in over time. Basically he has until they switch chips to go through them. I forsee him being a regular now or a scalper lurking around.

How would he make any money though? I would assume he can't set foot in the casino anymore since they have footage? So is there a black market for selling casino chips?

Heck, you can buy them on ebay. And he could walk up to people on the strip, offer them a 100 chip for 80 cash, hence, washing him of the chip.

The chips can be exchanged for cash at the cashier's cage. In theory, they're as good as money.
Of course, they're looking for this guy, so it's not gonna be that easy for him.

Well I don't condone stealing, but it's not like he pistol whipped an old lady and stole her medic alert bracelet to pawn for crack money, so best of luck to him I suppose, since as everyone already pointed out they are looking for him.

In order to do this, he either works there, had help or he had to stake the place out and learn the security routines. If he did this alone and not as an employee, he will probably be visible as someone who was hanging around the area where he robbed and they will eventually figure it out.

I have a hard time believing this is possible without either being an employee or having someone on the inside. Granted a casino can't have the same level of visible security as a bank due to the excessive number of people coming in and out, but all the same it seems like the odds of doing this successfully have to be pretty slim.

... What if he's just some guy who drove by on a motorcycle at 3:45 AM and happened to have a gun and thought "Eh, why not, I'll try it" and actually did do it.
Not the most probable of ideas but certainly not impossible

If so there's a dangerous man with impaired impulse control running around!

He was wearing a Black visored Helmet. They didn't see his face. All they know is his height, weight, and that hes white. No one saw his face, so why can't he just walk in and slowly cash these in?
Although, if it was me, I wouldn't walk into the Casino again. I'd scalp them or give them to trusted folks to work with them.

That man's gotta have some balls of steel though, doing that by himself. All it would take is for one gaurd to see him and then he's in jail.

I'm not gonna lie, when I saw this on the news, I started laughing like crazy. Seriously, this guy had to have known what he was doing, so I sincerely hope that he has some sort of plan for all of it. Not because I want him to get away with it, but it's gonna seem really anticlimactic if he just gets caught trying to walk in with all the chips and tries to cash them all in, as well as making him the biggest loser in heist history.

Hahahaha
Robber
"Yes sir, I would like to cash in 1.5 MILLION Dollars worth of chips please."
Cashier
"Uh... sure.... just hold on for one second please." As they lift the phone for security.

It's like a story that we'll never hear the end of! I bet you he sells them off or pays someone to come in there with the chips hidden, hang out for a while then cash them out altogether. But then, that person would get busted for Aiding/Abetting. Get it, abetting!
