Name some classic games from the old days that you'd like to see remade and done right on a next-gen console. Imagine your favorite games from the 80's/90's with modern gameplay mechanics, enhanced graphics and online play.
1) Road Rash - Most definitely Road Rash. I mean, c'mon, how the hell could they not have a motorcycle racing game with fists and weapons in this day and age?Why the hell did they stop continuing this franchise?
2) A real remake of the Genesis Sonic titles - Same levels, same style of gameplay, and as close as possible to the original physics, but with 3D/2.5D graphics. Sonic 4 just doesn't seem to cut it.
3) A real 3D Contra game - And I mean a good one, something along the lines of a decent FPS maybe.
4) A modern Golgo 13 game - Not necessarily a remake of either of the two NES games, I just think we need a next-gen Golgo 13 game. It could be like a sniper/assassin game like Metal Gear Solid but more episodic and mission-based like GTA or something.
5) Maniac Mansion - This game was pretty fun in its day and we don't get many SCUMM-based adventure games these days.
6) Twisted Metal 1 and 2 - I love the Twisted Metal franchise and I wouldn't mind seeing these particular two being rehashed to look and feel like TMB and TM:HO with a more urban, comic-book feel.
7) Tomba - I liked the cartoony feel of this game and I think the graphics capabilities of next-gen consoles can do it better justice today.
8) Snatcher - We Americans only got one game and it was for the Sega CD. The Japanese at least had several different versions from the PC-8801 to the Playstation. Too bad Hideo Kojima doesn't want to revive this game...
9) Streets of Rage - This was one of the most awesome game franchises on the Genesis and deserves to be brought back in next-gen consoles.
10) Gunstar Heroes - Another beat-em-up that should've spawned a franchise. Hell, the video game industry of today needs more arcade-style games like this.
11) Guardian Legend - A scantily-clad chick that turns into a spaceship on shooter levels and then back again on labyrinth levels? Why the heck not?
12) Eternal Champions - It may have been a ripoff of MK but every character was well-made and had a unique story to them and the fact they were all fighting to live again was a pretty cool plot idea.
13) Splatterhouse - Oh wait...

There was a decent Golgo 13 arcade game in the last decade.
Agree, but didn't I just make a thread for 3DS remakes and such? I'm not saying that this thread is a copy of mine, this one is for games on any next-gen console.

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be great and all, but some of the new features I'm a little skeptical of like the new multiplayer faction system. Dave Jaffe originally didn't even want the game to be single-player. I'd like them to make a remake for once, not just sequels.

Hell, we need more side-scrolling games in general. Especially beat-em-ups.

Don't cry because I didn't post in your thread. I saw this one first.
Anyways, please no FPS remake of anything that wasn't originally a FPS. Fuck that.

Doom 1 or 2: I'm tired of People Can Fly being the only fallback for people desiring an over-the-top, goofy, brainless shooter with good graphics.
Lucasarts adventure games: We've got Monkey Island re-makes with good updates, why not Day of the Tentacle or Grim Fandango? I'm tired of Dosbox, I just want to laze out in front of my kick-ass tv.
Alan Wake: Please re-make this so that the ending and DLC don't piss me off.
So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Why would you want a Grim Fandango remake, that game is a little over 10 years old and still looks fantastic.

There is a new Pilotwings coming out called Pilotwings Resort for 3DS.
Actraiser, battle-toads, earthbound, double dragon, dungeon keeper, Wing Commander these are just a few I would like to see remade

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen. I'd be the happiest guy on the earth if that was announced. They could make it into like a swordfighting God of War style game. Or maybe something Zelda like. Oooh oooh, combine them!! Do it like Darksiders!

The PSX Final Fantasy games could all stand remakes. Hell, any of the early 3D games with shitty polygon counts and blurry graphics could stand remakes. That shit does NOT stand the test of time.
Captain commando needs the same treatment that turtles in time got.
I'd also like to see more maverick hunter x and megaman powered up games.
Rival schools needs the sfiv treatment, and darkstalkers needs the super street fighter ii turbo hd remix this title is too long for a fighting game treatment.
Castlevania HD done right would be nice, and a SOTN styled mashup would be fun, where the characters all had different abilities, which meant that they all explored the castle differently.
I would also like to see another narc game. Straight up third person shooter. No sandbox shit.

Oh yeah, I agree with the battletoads and the actraiser. Streets of rage would be nice too. I'd like a new final fight that's nothing like streetwise while we.re dreaming.

A golden axe that isn't beast rider, and more Dracula x chronicle styled castlevania remakes.

I think the graphic styles of those games give them personality. I've always liked 2D backgrounds for some reason too. Given FF's current state, Square would fuck those games up so bad. I dread the inevitable FFVII remake.

I think a lot of the classic beat-em-ups could use the same treatment as Turtles in Time Re-shelled.
It's not a perfect remake, but I'd say it's a least a decent effort. Just imagine if they remade more beat-em-ups like this with online play.

It was ported to iPhone and it's exactly the same, first-grade line art and all.
