I've seen the game being played and pictures and it looks cool as hell. When I tried playing it at a friends I just didn't get it. The fun factor just wasn't there for me, but I can see how it could be addictive.

Once the game leaves its current (Alpha) stage, then it will go up to the price of 19.99 euros, or $25.00 US.

Minecraft is an odd little game that involves the construction of random structures and their destruction. You build things block by block. Or, you can explore, but if you're playing by yourself, zombies come out at night time (has a time feature), and you have to build a defense. Most people just burrow into a mountain and build a quick door. You can dig under ground until you find lava, then carry that back up in bucket.
In other words, I'm incompetent at explaining things.

Ooh, good choice in the trailer, Knyte. My friend showed me that exact one before I started playing. The game is little more than construction/destruction, but it's the manner of how it's done. It's not "Send SCV to mine crystals." It's get your own character (now with community-made skins) in danger while doing the best you can to survive the nightly horrors. It gets tense when you're making something integral, only to have an exploding Creeper wreck the whole thing. Also, be aware it's still in alpha stage and is made by an overwhelming crew of one person.

I wasn't able to do any of that stuff in the versions I played, so everyone is either lying or playing something different.

OR, before the raging starts, maybe Excel was playing the free version, in which the player can only build/destroy. You have to buy for crafting and such. So let's all just back up a bit.

I played both and I didn't get either. My computer couldn't last five minutes on the "real" version so I wasn't able to get anything accomplished on it.
