So I have a Wiimote and apparently the batteries expired, despite saying they're good until 2015, and the remote won't work. There's some white powdery stuff in the battery case. Is there anything I can do to clean/fix it?

You need baking soda, mix into a paste using water.

use a small brush, a kids toothbrush, brush the mix onto the contacts and scrub the corrosion off.

rinse with a good 90% isopropryl alcohol. Do not use "rubbing alcohol", it contains oil.

Also the alcohol will flash off and not leave a residue. Alcohol will not damage the plastic.

Did this for my 360 remote and it worked, thanks Yahoo Answers!

Where can I get a non-rubbing alcohol?

If it doesn't say rubbing alcohol on it, am I good to go?

Yeah, sounds good. Was this a controller that had been idle for a long time?

That and the percentage must be around 90% not 70%.

You might want to have gloves on when you work with that stuff, too.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.
