I haven't been here much lately, what with work, a pregnant wife who still attends college, and a son who attends preschool, but today I had to take a little time off because it's the milestone- the 20 week ultrasound where you confirm the gender of your baby. Not to be stereotypical amongst those of us who have kids, but I always really just wanted a son and a daughter, with the son coming first. Today, we have confirmed it-- my upcoming child is a daughter. I'm pretty stoked about it, actually.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

Congrats man! I've always wanted a daughter, but had a son instead and with my two stepsons added to the family as well, 3 kids is enough. So I don't think I'll ever get my daughter.

Is it wrong of me that I really did consider naming my daughter Zelda, and the only veto I got about it was that my wife and I once owned a dog named Zelda?
Thanks for all the well wishes, guys. I must admit, I am at a loss for a name for the time being. If it shows you the kind of friends I have, I've had friends suggest everything from Zelda to Midna to Aeris to Daisy.

Omedetto! My sister's expecting her first child, a boy, in February as well. As his uncle, I plan on spoiling the kid rotten.
I suggested Ama, short for Amaterasu, to one friend as a girl's name and they almost went with it.

That's hilarious!
You can name her Tahiri Veila Undeath. Or Trinity could be a reference to Zelda or could not be. IF you want to use a reference prefer less obvious ones. May help so your child doesn't despise you later for naming her Wonder Woman.
Congratulations on successfully completing your undeath attack twice!!!!!

I really want to have a daughter and one/two boys, I want my daughter to be named Torid, and I will fight for it, haha. It's a Norwegian name for "Thor's beauty", and my name is Torren, which is based off of "Thor". I always liked picking original names, and I say Zelda is nice, haha.
P.s. congrats.

Congratulations! I think Aeris would be a beautiful, and unique (and nerdy!) name for a girl.

Aeris would be cool and all, but I'm not one for naming children after people who die. Go with Samus.

If you insist on naming your daughter something nerdy, make it something obscure so it sounds vaguely foreign and something a bit subdued so that she's not the perpetual target of crappy name bullying. Samus is a very good choice. Non gamers don't know her name, it sounds good, and when she gets older being named after a kickass character is nice. Zelda is not. Its not very good sounding, its well known and thus a good target, and even after that you've got the "lame princess who bears the triforce of getting kidnapped" or if your a Fitzgerald fan "batshit insane woman". See, bad track record on that.
