This could turn bad, if people don't respect others beliefs when responding.
Have a mature conversation, and don't stomp all over someone if they believe something you don't.
With that said, someone will probably fuck this up, and get this locked.
My thoughts though, If its comforting my dying loved one, I could care less if its real or not. If its real, thats wonderful. If its not, who cares, at least they weren't as scared and died at peace. But my grandmother did this when she was on her deathbed, she kept reaching out like someone was holding their hand out for her. She never said who it was, but she said "Ok, I understand" and then she died.
It was really crazy to see, but comforting at the same time. If its real or not, I hope I can go with no fear like she did.

Hate to say it, but I think that if there will be somebody, they'll have to pull me up quick. I don't plan on having any kind of deathbed; as soon as I find out I'm terminal, I'm going to get my affairs in order, get a lease on a shiny new car and drive it off of the biggest cliff that I can find, provided there's nobody below that'd get hurt. When they check the wreckage, they'll be able to see that the brakelines went out somewhere so my wife gets all the insurance. My personal belief? What happens after that doesn't matter, because I'll be dead.

I like to think that this is a dream and when we kick it, we go back and experience the same life over and over again. Like how people say their lives flashed before their eyes when they have a near death experience, in death, they relive their lives again...

This, basically, also sums up how I live my life, and how I view things like religion, like "if it brings someone some personal comfort and solace, what's the harm?" I'm not religious, but I'm open to the thought that if I'd had a religious experience or a deathbed vision, I'd be comforted by it, skepticism be damned. Let's not mince words; death is the ultimate scary ass bastard, and anything you can do to ease the transition of the single most horrible thing that will inevitably happen to all of us is welcome.
That being said, I want to live to be 100. I'm in no hurry to die.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

Depends on which one of the heavens you go to, I normally say I am atheist/agnostic, just cause "odinism" and "wotanism" hold some bad rep of which people don't know anything about, but I am an odinist. Valhalla is where I want to go, so I will meet some of my family, and others, but not all.

Wow those are my exact same beliefs. I always look at it from a scientific perspective, if nothing can ever be created or destroyed then neither can our consciousness.

I think of it more from a reincarnation view, but instead of random people, we eventually go through the cycle with everyone that has ever existed.
And that includes alien life forms that could be sentient. But I wouldn't know that.

Seriously? People are telling dying people their visions of seeing dead relatives isn't real? Wow, what assholes. I mean, come on, these people are on their last breaths, have some damn tack and let them take comfort in whatever they can.

Thats exactly how I feel. I don't know if I believe it. But I would tell you, if its not real, I would hope I have a "vision". But exactly like you said, Let these people have comfort in their final moments on this Earth.
