I have been wanting to take up rocketry as a hobby for about a month now and thought this would be a good place to post so I could see if anyone here has any experience and/or tips. I last built rockets back in middle school around 14 years ago, so I remember a little bit about what is involved. Any experience others have would be great to help get me on the right path and would be massively appreciated. I plan to build some standard simple ones to begin and then maybe build some custom rockets completely out of homemade and or found parts, except of course the engines.

I used to do the same thing. Started with the A class rockets and moved up to the E class ones. I usually lost the E class rockets though...those things SCREAM off into the sky. Just find a huge open field and let them fly. Just make sure you're not with 15 miles of an airstrip. Also, don't be a smart and put random crap in the fuselage...that can cause your shit to fly off in a retard pattern because of the weight imbalance.

My dad use to do this all the time when I was a kid. I loved watching them take off and chasing them down.
