I feel like working on some music, but I'm not sure what I want to do. I'm asking for some help in deciding the next few songs I'm going to do. Here's my criteria:
1) It has to be video game music.
2) It has to be from NES, SNES, or Genesis.
Note that I'm going to make piano arrangements. If you'd prefer some other arragement, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Good idea! I've wanted to delve into some of that music for a while, but never remembered. SWEET.

Town from FFI?
Bloody Tears?
Jinn, The Fire from FFIII?
I think those have all been beat into the ground, though.

Journey to Silius - Stage 1 complete.
Most of it, especially the ending, is a bit weak due to the acoustics of the piano. It would sound much fuller on with a sound that doesn't die off as you get higher and can be held out. Also, The harmony after the A section is just the same thing two beats back, like the FF intro. Due to the complicated nature of playing all that with one hand (you have to keep the bass ostinato in there), I didn't write it into the music.
As for my next one... I can do FF Town. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by Jinn from FFIII (Real III or III in America?) I have no clue what Bloody Tears is, but if you let me know, I may be able to do it. I'm not going to jump on FF Town since you seemed iffy about them being beat to death.[/url]
EDIT: Also, if you have any suggestions that you'd like to talk to me about more directly, feel free to IM on AIM. My s/n is SaiyanEsperJDA.

I think Bloody Tears is a Castlevania song, but if you can do Vampire Killer or Snake Man's theme that'd rock.

Japanese FFIII, and Bloody Tears, from Castlevania II. It's a classic Castlevania song, I figured everyone knew what it was. Maybe I'm just a giant dork.

DarkMaze, thanks for the feedback.
As per an AIM suggestion by Jeebus, I'm going to work on the intro to Mega Man 3.
Bloody Tears did sound like it was from Castlevania, but I wasn't sure. I'll dig through suggestions when I get done with the next one.
As for FFIII, I've never been able to find an English ROM or patch. If you can get me/point me to a translated ROM, I'll add it to the list.
Any/all feedback and comments are welcome. With your suggestions, I hope to make a decent sized database of sheet music which which to start my own web page for it.

Mega Man 3 - Intro completed.
God, that was a toughy. A lot of syncopation and even a few grace notes here and there. I was able to incorporate parts of the melody into the left and right hands, making the playing a bit more complex. As for the final looping part's bass line, That's as close as I could get to the real bass line, as the actual line has tom--esque hits where I placed the upper octave notes. Depending on the action of your instrument and the strength/speed of your pinkie and ring or ring and midle fingers, you may or may not be able to play what I wrote. Fuck, I can't even play it. It definitely sounds kickass though.
Well, I'm done with game music for tonight. I have a headache and the woman is home, so I can't use both laptops anymore. >_<
I'll probably get back to it tomorrow, as people are coming to the apartment to put in new windows and I'm going to be up at 7 AM. Yes, it's killer for me. I'm a 9-10 AM guy.
Here's what I'll be doing next (in order):
Castlevania - Level 1 (Syd)
Castlevania III - Level 1 (Jeebus) (should be a quickie since I already know most of it.)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (jonnymorgue) (I'm not sure what yet, probably play around until I hear something that good for standard piano.)
Axelay - Level 2 (Mr. Bomberman)
Gradius III - High Speed Level
As for Bloody Tears ( Castlevania II ), let me know where that is in the game. And for FFIII, point me to an translated ROM.
Woo, thanks guys.

I can't remember how Bloody Tears goes.
Also, use some of the music from Metal Warriors, a Mech game for SNES. That may sound kind of fucked up on the piano, though.

My girlfriend doesn't work today (which I didn't know yesterday), so I'm not going to be able to do anything because I can't get both computers. I'll probably play through Gradius and Axelay to get the necessary save states for where those themes are and also through Zombies Ate My Neighbors to listen around for a good theme. I haven't played that in forever anyway and maybe I can get the wifey to play too.

There's no rush on that ZAMN stuff. I'm sure there's more productive tunes you can crank out for everyone.

Not on music, no. I changed the layout of my apartment, so I'm still confused on how to get everything set up to work efficiently. That and I've been getting back into programming. My girlfriend is going home for Christmas in a few days, so then I'll probably get back on it, because I'll have both laptops to myself.

I'm in the process now of getting some people together to actually play some of this music and probably some other stuff as well. Because of that, I'm probably not going to make much more music in the meantime and when I do it will be in a bass-lead guitar-rhythm guitar-keyboards format to help suit the band since we're working off of my sheet music.
One of the people in this collaboration has some sweet-ass recording equipment, so are second step after rearranging/learning the music is recording.
Unfortunately, in terms of live performances down the road, there aren't many places around here that will fit this style of music, although thre are a lot of gamers up here. We have a community college and a few other possible viable places... but that's for the future.
Anyway, I just wanted to give a heads up and not let this thread totally die, because I do want to get more music done... it's just going to be in moderation with applying said music to the band.

Wow, I did a search for Metal Warriors Sheet Music on Google because I'm doing a remix, and I found my own post.
