Thought I'd mention this while I remember, but when I was volunteering for my community service for my DUI, I actually sold the 1985 Clue VHS tape game to a customer. It didn't cross my mind until now, but HOW MANY OF YOU CAN SAY THAT YOU'VE SOLD IT!!
HAR HAR HAR!

The video game forum description defines "video games" as the old VHS-based games.

I have a copy of Let's Go to the Races from like 86 or 87. I have all the races memorized as a tribute to my Dad.

The only VHS based game that I ever had or have even played was the Star Trek TNG one, where they paid Robert Reilly (sp) (Gowron) to be the bad guy and Johnathan Frakes for his one scene as Gowron where he sabotages the Enterprise and you have to get a bunch of items around the ship (board) and he can "randomly" punish you throughout the tape.
Cool things include:
Fast forwarding to seeing the ship blow up if you can't save the ship in time.
Rank and insignia stickers (like 5 pages worth) for if you host a party based on the game, per se.
Hearing Gowron shout "Experience Bijj!" is the only thing you're going to remember.

What was that one where you had to write your fears on scraps of paper?

You're thinking Nightmare, where you write them on the backs of the coffin-shaped Nightmare cards, yeah?
"Yes, my Gatekeeper!"
edit in case you were never lucky enough to play it's awesomeness- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightmare_(game)

My friend TJ and I played that at his house, the board was ripped in half and it took us a couple hours to find the second half
