I kinda wonder if they kept the whole "illegal mexican laborer" thing with Machete, or changed it for reasons unknown.

I can't wait to see this movie. I still remember seeing the trailer in between the Grindhouse movies years ago and thinking it would be awesome if it were a real movie... and it is! They should totally make that movie from the other fake trailer in the Grindhouse movies where Nicolas Cage is Fu Manchu, and have Christopher Lee make a Cameo, that would be fucking sweet.

I think it looks pretty cool. I'm a huge fan of Danny Trejo anyway and think it's about time he got himself a starring role.

Werewolf Women of the SS! The Eli Roth preview "Thanksgiving," was my personal favorite.

From what I hear, they did keep it in.

Saw it this afternoon with my wife, and I had a shitload of fun with it. There were a lot of laughs, the violence/action was over the top but top notch, and everybody in the audience really seemed to enjoy themselves. It definitely had it's own take on the whole illegal immigration thing, but it didn't hammer you in the face with it. Definitely one to go see. They should've had that and Planet Terror in Grindhouse instead. A

Just got back and I thought the movie was awesome. Great action and even had a few good laughs in it. Cast was fantastic too, Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba were smoking hot, I even found myself wanting to nail Lindsay Lohan.
A few complaints though:
I thought the movie felt a little over produced, wasn't quite as gritty and exploitive as the original fake trailer.
The movie was kinda too political, kinda takes you out of the fun when you're trying to figure out if they are intentionally trying to sell a point to you.
Machete wasn't quite the killing machine I thought he was going to be, there's a few stretches of the movie where you're just waiting for him to get back to doing what he does best. I think they tried too hard to make him more sympathetic which kinda goes in hand with complaint #2.
All in all, if I was IGN and pulling a random rating out of my ass, I'd give the movie an 8.7 out of 10.

Same here, I managed to catch the only showing of Grindhouse in a 50 mile radius. On another note, and one I'm ashamed to know, Trejo as codename "Machete" was even referenced in Spy-Kids 3D.

Saw it last night and it was pretty awesome. Pretty interesting yet predictable story, over the top action and a lot more.

Kris Lexia actually mentioned htis at dinner tonight, that he was Uncle Machete. I thought it looked stupid, but on premise alone Planet Terror probably looked stupid too, and that movie was fantastic, so I have high hopes for enjoying this.

Just saw this. Good times.
Anyone know if the Wii game Jessica Alba plays in it is real?

Fun movie, but its message is so aggressive it took me out of the movie for a bit.
Also, who woulda thought that the guy from Miami Vice would have been the best actor in the movie somehow? Also, it probably really sucks for Invisible woman to be outclassed acting wise by both Michelle Rodriguez and Lindsay Lohan.
Favorite bit myself? Probably the opening sequence, with the mass spinning decapatation. Worst? Steven Seagal no-selling being stabbed in the stomach with a machete.

I thought Jeff Fahey was the best actor in it.

Yeah, Jeff Fahey was awesome and had a really cool character. I liked the scene where he went to pick up his daughter and was just being a badass in that scene.

I forgot about the helicopter pilot guy. He's really good too, and frankly a much better villian than the bloated Aikido ponytail douchbag they ended up settling on.

I guarantee you that Seagal wrote his own death scene and that was part of the deal for him to appear in the film.

Saw it last night. Loads of fun. The characters are all Awesome (with a capital "A") in typical Rodriguez fashion, although Fahey especially shone.
It's pretty mindless, though. I wasn't as emotionally invested as I was in "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" or "Sin City." The film didn't really give me a strong reason to connect with any of the characters. But it's supposed to be a grindhouse-style flick, so that's completely excusable.
And I loved Seagal in it. His death scene was great.
