there are games that provide challenges that take every tiny bit of skill you got. Challenges that push you to the limit. Challenges that make you feel standing eye to eye, with the beast that hides in the darkness.

My Plague was the 5th Colossus in SotC in Hard Time Attack Mode. It was so terribly hard to beat the 3rd or the 6th but fighting the 5th was like chasing after a cab without legs. You just CAN'T win. What made it worse, was that i had every fuckig thing you could get in that game. Maxed out Stats, all Items, climbed the Secret Garden, Normal Time Attack beaten, beaten every Colossi on Hard Time Attack. I tried it thousand times. Watched youtube videos where the use shortcuts. Spent nights filled up with desperation and pain but there was no sense in trying and struggeling. The funny thing is that Phaedra itself is not dangerous at all. Her attacks are weak, easy to dodge and will never give you any problems of fought her a couple of times. Its the time. You just have to less of it to beat it. Thats basically it. If i had half a minute more time, it would have been possibly to beat her. But no, they just thought we give the gamer this challenge, where he finally will understand that the 17th Colossus is always around... Time is his name and you won't defeat him.

I gues one day, i will turn on my Ps2 and try it again. Maybe my skills have somehow improved and i will be able to beat her and obtain the Queens Sword (wich instantly kills every colossus in the game).

So, please tell the story of your Challenge that you couldn't beat.

it was the best of times
it was the blurst of times

La-Mulana plays you all the time. When you find a new area, your first thought isn't "What is this place?", it's "Which of these walls is going to kill me first?"

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

Beating Devil May Cry on the hardest difficulty took quite a few tries.

There aren't a lot of hardcore games I pursue. I do always enjoy a game of Day of Reckoning 2 on the hardest difficulty, since the computer is such an invincible cheating asshole, it's always a close match. Same with Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, though recently I've gotten better and can beat the computer on 10 difficulty almost every time.

I guess getting all the achievements on Shadow Complex was pretty annoying, as I had to replay quite a few sections on Insane difficulty, you seem to instadie from machine guns. Combine that with the fact that the game is 2D-ish, so you're playing on one plane while guys are shooting you from the background, yet you can't freely shoot them unless you get your aiming just right. I kept dying from guys the game wouldn't let me shoot. Ugh.

What about getting the invincibility cheat on the facility mission in Goldeneye? Everything has to go PERFECT. You can go faster than a kenyan on speed, but if Dr. Doak's not in the right place you're screwed.

I don't think I ever accomplished that.

Me neither. After a while I gave up and used one of the button codes we found out about years later.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed on the hardest difficulty. I can't get past the first stage, maybe I just played it a couple times and quit. I can't remember.

FZero GX for the gamecube. Story mode was rediculous.
Also this 'N' level I made called "the 'N'd" cheesy right? I'm going to put it up once I've beaten it. At least 20,000 attempts in the past 3 years on it.

Set to folk music of his country. I've conquered most of my big troubles, but the one that cost me the most time and effort was fighting a huge group of Splicers in BioShock on Hard difficulty. You just get the shotgun, then BAM. No lights. Spotlight's on you, kid, and now you defend yourself from 30 splicers with a boomstick and limited ammo.

"And on the other hand, you have different fingers."
