You decide. I'm voting for A Link To The Past. The CD-i games aren't included. Also, none of the Bandai Sattellaview add-on games, as I'm pretty sure no one here has played them, as they were only available on the Super Famicom and not the SNES. It would have been cool if we could have gotten the Sattellaview, which was an add-on for the Super Famicom that let you download games.

I voted for ocarina of time, it's so good that it's become cliche to love it. So a lot of you won't vote for it for that reason alone.
Second best: Windwaker-Link to the past
Handheld best- Oracle of seasons
Worst- Adventure of link (II)
Should be the best- Twilight princess, it's missing something and I don't know what, someone tell me.
I want it to be the best, it's the best in almost every way... but for some reason it isn't. WHY!?

Maybe everything looks too brown? Or maybe it's nostalgia. I only played it once, but one of the main complaints was that it's too easy.

Link to the Past. Hands down.
Ocarina of Time is close... I'd probably tie them if it weren't for nostalgia...
Majora's Mask would be in the same league if it was longer.

I don't think MM should be larger. Could you imagine how nightmarish it would be with the three day cycle in a game as big as OOT?

^20 bucks they picked it because I said it was the worst one.
I think HardcoreGamer is right about what It was with Twilight princess, the color palette wasn't as bright as any other zelda. And when there was a non-dirt spectrum color it was bogged down by obscuring textures.
It took HG4E like 2 minutes to figure out and I've been pondering it for 4 fucking years.

Yeah, it really is a fun game and unfortunately, reaction for it is mixed. People either hate it or love it. Personally, I don't feel it deserves any of its hate. Well, except for its brutal difficulty. But the main reason is that it's different than the other Zelda's. Well, c'mon. It was only the second game in the series, so that argument is irrelevant because Nintendo really didn't know if they should keep the style of the original or try a new approach. Even though overall I like the original more, in some ways, I like Zelda II more.

My top 3 are ALLTTP, Zelda II and Ocarina.
Some of those choices are purposeless honestly, who would really choose something like "Oracle of Seasons" when there are so many other better games on the list.

Seasons wasn't bad. I enjoyed that game. But I can understand it not being a favorite.

I agree it was a good game, but who could honestly say that it was their favorite of all time?

TP was gimmicky and boring. The wolf sections were ripped right out of Okami, the special items were awful and super situational. The whole light/dark aspect has been done to death and was done better in LTTP. The only thing I can say was better were some of the swordfights.
This is all imo btw.

I'm going the slightly more obscure route here: Majora's Mask. While some consider the mask system gimmicky and stale, I see it as a new level of gameplay. It really doesn't go too far out of the box, and it's one of few that haven't taken place in Hyrule. (Or did it? Can't remember... Help please!) A close second is Ocarina of Time, despite the Water Temple. Third goes to TP on GameCube. Why only GC? Controls felt much tighter. The other reason I really liked it is because it was a little grittier. Although you never stab a giant pig in the face, the ending was oh so satisfying. Oh, and Spanish Meatloaf? You're missing depth, TP is surprisingly shallow compared to its 64 bit grandpa.

Seriously no Wind Waker love? I thought the art style was perfect for a Zelda game. Don't get me wrong, I like the realistic style, but I just think the cartoon style is more Zelda-y.
Here are my thoughts on the other options. * means I beat it.
Zelda 1 was pretty good. I only played it after playing Link to the Past and Zelda 2 so that might factor into why I don't like it as much as the others.
Zelda 2 was okay, but the soundtrack was awesome.
*A Link to the Past was beyond excellent. One of my all time favorite games. 2nd favorite Zelda title.
*Link's Awakening was awesome. The first Zelda I ever beat.
*Ocarina was amazing. I rented that game into the ground when I was young. 3rd favorite Zelda title.
Majora's Mask was also one of my favorites. I especially loved the three day and mask mechanics. Too bad the damn water temple stopped me from beating it.
I never played the Oracle games.
I never knew anyone with a GBA and Four Swords, so I never played that either.
I also never played Four Swords, Adventure.
Minish Cap never really captivated me. I did like the return to the Link's Awakening controls, though.
Twilight Princess was not my cup of tea. I hated Link's redisign. I hated the fact that Link had a girlfriend that wasn't Zelda. But most of all I hated the difficulty.
Phantom Hourglass would've been good, but I hated the controls and the fact that I had to return to the same dungeon over and over again.
Spirit Tracks I have yet to play, but Phantom Hourglass has left me thinking I would be better off without it.

* It takes 3-4 hours to get into the real game play. That is too much time to invest before the game gets going.
* Zelda games are best when there are no mandatory mini-games. Flying through the caverns is obnoxious as a necessary Zelda move, it would be fine as an optional game.
* The final boss battle feels sloppy and "over the top epic" instead of clean and brutal. Windwaker's final boss battle was perfect.
* As a non-cell shaded game, there is too much of a cartoon feel with some of the characters such as the children and Zant.
* The world map feels closed off and small compared to many modern open world games today. The original top down Zelda games were great because the world was open completely and limited only by your collection and progress through the labyrinths. Now in game events alter the landscape and pace the progress.
* A navigational assistant other than a map was necessary in past games, but is now feeling old and out dated. Borderlands is a perfect example of showing where to go without needing a fairy.
