So what would you do if you had no video games for a whole year?
I always find it awkward to answer questions like this because typically, as you consider things day by day, you probably wouldn't realize you're going to be spending that long without them.
As of early next year, I'm heading back to Thailand for a year and I will not be taking my video games with me. I don't think it's a huge issue for me. I'm not a true hardcore gamer to begin with. I used to be a hardcore gamer when I was younger but I've moved on to other interests, namely M:TG, rock climbing, working out, women and social interaction, though not necessarily in that order.

I'd like to say I'd die of not playing video games, but on the other hand, I think I have enough shit in my house to keep me occupied for at least a year or longer, and if we're also not counting the computer as a video game in a sense, then I could easily just spend all my time watching anime and stuff.

I think I would do just fine. I probably only complete 2 or 3 games a year anyways, I got a job.

I'd first die. Then I'd decompose. Then I'd crumble into ash. All over the course of about ten minutes.

What Woodzy said. I've probably gone a full year without playing a video game already. Can't remember.

Five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes; five hundred, twenty-five thousand porn pics so dear. Five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes; that's how you mastur-bate for a year.

Yes, but who's to say it's not his life's anthem?

Well I can say that I will be learning Thai and exploring Southeast Asia for a year.
I can't say for sure that I won't have any video games, especially since I'll be taking my laptop with me, but I'm not a big PC gamer anyway. But I won't have any of my own video games with me.
HDTV's aren't that common over there and SD TV's are PAL, so my PS3 loses its region-free status and Xbox360 isn't region free to begin with, so it wouldn't be much use to bring those with me.

I'd read, or play battletech if I could get a group of friends together.

I play and make alot of music, I would just do that more. Don't get me wrong, I would be sad not being able to partake in a hobby I enjoy.
But I would find a way to carry on.

I would slowly lose my mind and start imitating games, stomping on innocent turtles at the pet store, bombing people's walls looking for arrows, trying to turn people I view as monsters into tasty snacks by blowing bubbles at them, stuff like that.

Duh, for the underage prostitutes and the ladyboys!
Actually I was there last year for a while and it was pretty awesome and I made a lot of friends. Plus winter doesn't exist over there. Also money goes a long freaking way in Southeast Asia.
Basically I want to travel around SEA so I'm gonna make Bangkok my home base, and at the same time I'm going to register for Thai language lessons to get a 1 year visa.

Sure, there are video games, but it's not like I'm gonna buy a console over there.

I would have my sorceror friend open up a Soulnado, giving me access to a near endless supply of souls to absorb. These souls would provide the sustenance necessary to live without video games.

Maybe you can ask your friend to find a guy I know and beat him down with his own leg.

I require far too many souls on a daily basis for my soulnado to be effective, probably because I got a hack warlock buddy who sucks at making soulnados.

Easy, I've already done it. 2 or 3 years even. You just need to take up martial arts or something. In fact that's why I'm so many years behind in the video game world.

Not a bad idea, I'll have to check out Muay Thai or Muay Lao camps while I'm there.
