I really dislike, for example when a person asks a teacher can i go to the bathroom. The implied question is legally can i, given school rules of needing your permission, go to the bathroom. It's not a question of physical possibility. Basically it's not a physically can i go to bathroom, the answer to that is yes.. it's a legally can i (or within school rules) go to the bathroom. There's a subtle difference of context within the word "can". I'm kinda annoyed by the inability of teachers to understand this context of the word "can".
