A movie is being made off of the doomsday theory of 2012.

I have a feeling this will only push the paranoia to a new level

I saw previews for this when I saw Zombieland and people in the theater were literally laughing at it. It looks ridiculously over the top and horrible...and not in a good way.

Yeah, it looks like a lot of special effects porn and not much else. I'll wait and see what Ebert and co say about it, but I have a feeling my first impression was the right one.

Looks to be one giant CG jerk-off, really though I don't think this is going to change anyone's mind about 2012. I have no doubt that one day we will either blow ourselves up, or die out any number of ways, but I refuse to believe in the Aztec forecast, I mean if they were so insightful / mystic / whatever..you think they would have had enough brains to keep far away from Cortez and his men.

Fear can sell though, so it will not surprise me if this does amazingly well, but really it's based on the same fear YTK generated, as shitty a movie as it was at least " The Day After Tomorrow " had some scientific merit to it. Ultimately though the movie will do well, disaster movies make good date movies.

The most hilarious thing about these conspiracy people is that the Aztecs weren't responsible for their own intelligence (and thus were killed by Cortez easily). They were, according to these um... "interesting" people, visited by a race of reptilian aliens who shared their technology with humans in exchange for worship. These reptilians impregnated some human women which created a hybrid human-reptilian race. These people reptiles then formed the free masons and now rule the world. 2012 is when the aliens are supposed to come back and battle with God's army. That's right, they're also nephilim. Amazing story. Laughing

It's a disaster movie and nothing more. I'm sure I'll enjoy it on DVD while highly intoxicated.

So, you make a movie about the end of the world, what's next?

That's right, a sequel!

They are already working on a Made for TV sequel to 2012.

So basically it's a combination of these movies:

Armageddon
Deep Impact
The Core
The Day After Tommorow
Earthquake
Volcano
Rollerball (After all that tom-fuckery happens.)

Wow, this movie is gonna suck.

I like disaster movies in general, since it's a guilty pleasure for me, plus I'm a colossal sadist when it comes to people dying and the world crumbling.

With that said, I will go see it, but I won't defend it from the obvious backlash.

And as a side note, not even the Mayans' descendants believe 2012 will be the end of the world.

Most people don't read more than 5 minutes into the issue, so most people don't know that the Mayan calender restarts in 2016. Also, why the fuck would alignment of the planets cause earthquakes. That's just stupid bullshit ARGGGHHHH! Bleating and Babbling Bleating and Babbling Bleating and Babbling Bleating and Babbling Bleating and Babbling Bleating and Babbling Bleating and Babbling

Even if Christopher Nolan directed this, and it got the ravest reviews imaginable, I'd probably pass on it, due to the History Channel's oversaturation of the damn theory.

Also the preview I saw for it was fucking stupid, all the cars on all the roads around John Cusack are collapsing and falling, yet he somehow KNOWS to chose the one road that doesn't collapse.

It's only getting worse. I saw a "documentary" on what war will be like on the moon.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

well, if he picked the wrong road, then it would be a multi-million dollar 30 minute movie.

It would've had a much better ending too. With John Cusack fucking dying...wondering how his film career had gone to shit since High Fidelity.

Also it's apparently a fucking Earthquake...how does everything in God's Grey Earth collapse around them, but this one lone road is perfectly intact.

If I ever meet Roland Emmerich, I'm going to rub my fucking nutsack on his face.

gay.

now is it gay that you rubbed your sac on him, or that he got rubbed on?

reminds of a convo my buddy was telling me about this other forum he frequents. apparently someone posted a pick of a guy snorting coke off another guys wang. the discussion was to determine who was gayer, the snortee or the snorter.
