That was a good one. I enjoyed the last few clips the most. Punch Out was probably my favorite.

Am I trippin' balls or did they use the chaingun from Doom 64 for the Duck Hunt part? I'm almost sure of it.

Haha, that was much funnier than I was anticipating.
That video was pretty good, but some games do have such a mode. Barney's Hide and Seek game for the Genesis... It will play itself if you don't.

I vividly recall that game. I remember that they wouldn't let you fall off ledges, Barney instead would pull out a stop sign and wait for the moving platform to return.
I remember one time I kept running back and forth between the ledge and platform trying to get Barney to fall, one time I was able to pull it off and the game glitched out. Weird shit.

there were ledges in that game?
my sis in law used to play this on the sega channel, and i dont recall any ledges. all she would do is walk around hugging kids.
a game about a grownup dinosaur hugging kids?! sounds creepy.

No idea. But it's definitely not the Doom/Doom2 one.

Lots of child hugging, but there are definitely ledges.
This is the first time I've ever been on College Humour. Very well made video, I think the Pac-Man clip was the best.

Good stuff. Newer games are certainly coming closer to this though - that Prince of Persia game for 360/PS3 a couple years ago wouldn't let you fall to your death, which I thought was really dumb. It even gave you an achievement the first time it fixed your fuck-up. What gives? Being raised on asshole NES games, I feel like I have a good video game work ethic.

It would be really funny if it was impossible to lose to the final boss in, say, Final Fantasy X.
Oh, wait.

To be fair, the last couple of battles in FFX are just for show.
The real final battle is against Braska's Final Aeon and you can lose. But if you do you should consider taking up a different hobby. Like knitting.
