Holy shit, is this a confusing show.
My sister gets home from work and immediately turns it on. Mind you, I'm watching some post-game interview clips from the Giants/Eagles game on ESPNEWS, so she's already done enough to royally piss me off. But whatever. I'm too concerned with copying this big stack of DVD's from her collection that I have sitting here to care.
Maybe it's because she turned it on half way through the episode, but this is confusing. There's a male guy who goes to a record company party and gets coked up, and next thing you know, it's actually a dyke chick who totals her car by running it off the high way or something. Then there's just a bunch of random cutaways to these two lesbians making out in front of an empty fridge, and it kinda makes me hungry.
I'd hope to god that none of you can explain the concept of this show to me, because that means...wait, hold on.
My sister just celebrated because she saw a preview for the rest of the season and "THERE'S A NEW LESBIAN, YAY! You know this is the only reason I pay for the Showtime package, right? I waited a year for this new season."
Anyway, this show sucks and you suck if you know details about it.

I can think of no better place for lesbians to make out than in front of an empty fridge.

Why is your sister so enthralled by this show? Is she a lesbian?

I would watch it if that flashed on the screen like when a second player puts a quarter into MvC.
HERE COMES A NEW LESBIAN!

Yeah I know it's crap, two of the images I wanted to use were png and wouldn't work with paint and I got bored when I got on the right half.

If you don't like it, you don't like it. I enjoy this with my sister (who's also a lesbian)
It's a good show for the people who actually PAY ATTENTION!

I tried to, I really did. I talked more about it today with my sister, and I still can't figure out how a person named Shane that looks like a regular "emo" dude is actually a chick. It's like a random plot twist just thrown in there to fuck with me.

I would rather watch "The L Word's" entire episode library, then have to see another single episode of "Queer As Folk". My ex's best friend bought the first season of Queer as Folk and brought it over one night. I made the mistake of walking through the livingroom to the kitchen just in time to see some sloppy man sex.
That, and I have watched "The L Word" a couple of times just to see Laurel Holloman. We went to college together, and still keep in contact through E-mail and the rare phonecall. She made me promise to watch at least one episode. Which I did, and it had Snoop Dogg in it. Which was cool.

that lesbo select screen is awesome.
and bomberman, I hope you aren't thinking smurf is dissin on the show jsut because there are gays in it (which is what your "my sister is a lesbian" remark made me think.) because a father figure to both smurf and myself happens to be gay.

Teh Internet, baby. We stick together one-two punch time to man up.
But yeah, now she has me tricked into watching an episode of Big Love. This one seems a little more interesting, possibly because I'm watching it from the start of the episode instead of jumping in the middle, and "Barbara" is a female's name applied to a female to make it less confusing for me. Decent little concept. Shame the three wives don't make out in front of a random empty fridge, though.

I haven't seen the L-Word, but I have seen its male counterpart, Queer as Folk. I was semi-forced to watch a whole episode at a small house party I was at about 2 years ago. Even though it was only one episode, it seemed like the show was more about sexual tension and shock value than any sort of creative effort. I'm not homophobic, in general terms, but I was made uncomfortable by the explicit situations and the constant sexual overtones between men. I mean, there are sexual overtones in a lot of shows, movie, and even real life... but the fact that it was so concentrated and also between males made it too much for me.
While lesbianism is attractive under certain conditions, I think I'd probably have the same problem with the L-Word. I'm not the type of person that can keep watching something based on only sexuality. That and I don't care for romantic drama anyway.
