I don't know how much he knows about what he's talking about, I know very little on this issue, but that is actually a legitimate resizing technique, designed to create the fluidity/smoothness in the resizing. I think he's being sarcastic.

Upon re-reading, I don't think he's being sarcastic. I don't if he could manually do the algorithm, but it seems he knows a good amount about digital picture manipulation. He may very well use software that has that bi-cubic resizing as an option. The way he wrote it though came off like he was condensing a bunch of terms that only real picture people would know together. Because of that I took it as he has to be being sarcastic. My problem was, I got the picture, cropped, saved it into MSpain, uploaded it to photobucket, resized in photobucket to 100x100, and even after all that the quality was degraded. Sehk came along, and must have resized it via photoshop, and maintained the quality way more.

JonSnow...You make absolutely no sense. He was being sarcastic. Then you yourself agree he was being sarcastic while still saying he wasn't being sarcastic. You make my head hurt on a daily basis.

Lol.. I guess i need to take more time.
1.) After re-reading i changed my mind to he wasn't be sarcastic.
2.) I explained why I came to the conclusion. earlier, that he was being sarcastic, but that doesn't mean I changed my mind again. I was just explaining why i thought that. I still believe #1.
3.) I talked about what I did to the photo, to perhaps show why my quality sucked!
Right now i'm just unsure of EVERYTHING LOL... dammit McCallister. His wording suggests sarcasms highly, but if you actually break down what he said, it's not that hard to do.. it's a matter of a setting if you have the right software. You can do Bi-linear reduction, or bi-cubic reduction each has it's uses and it's flaws.
GPF just tell us if it was sarcasm... I'm starting to think it is again.
My final guess.. you are ..... not being sarcastic? am i right? Was that a serious comment?
askdfjasklfjsffk I read his post and I understood everything he said in all his posts, it's not that complicated. I can't make my mind aljendrooooooooo. Whose right GPF me or McCalli?

I am glad this issue was resolved. Having the high resolution image can be helpful, also knowing to use a bicubic sharper algorithm during reduction helps. Lastly, I tend to add and adjust an overlay layer to bring out the most contrast in images that need to be reduced. |

I'll break it down for you Snow.
1. Higher resolution means more pixels. More pixels means more detail. When reducing it offers two major benefits. First, a person can reference the original to compare for loss of quality. Second, reduction methods can be assessed and tested to see which offers the best results in reduction without loss of image conception.
2. Bicubic Sharper is an Image Resizing algorithm option in Photoshop and is the best choice for most raster image reductions. In CS4 they started labeling it as such, for other applications though it isn't always detailed that way.
I don't want to give any pixel art designers a heart attack, so I'll clarify that pixel art should rarely be reduced using Bicubic Sharper, instead use Nearest Neighbor. Of course, you shouldn't really need to reduce pixel art.
3. Using Photoshop I create a duplicate layer with the content I am looking to post, I then apply a blend mode that works for it. In this case the "overlay" blend mode. This mode tends to exaggerate contrast by applying a screen or multiple blend mode depending upon the color it is over. I then alter the opacity of that layer until it looks correct to me.
4. I have been on this forum for years talking about computer related topics such as building, trouble shooting, and media editing. What would make you think I was being sarcastic?

So in conclusion, I was correct in changing my mind, you are not being sarcastic.. and McCallister is wrong.
I totally understand what you're saying... More detail from the original picture offers a better quality image when shrunk, and also a better shrinking algorithm offers a better picture when shrunk.
I also understand your earlier point at how the Sydlexia forum page may load at a different rate then the site i'm loading my avatar from, so my avatar could still be loading even when the rest the page is done, and then secondly that my avatar initially loads to the size of the page i'm linking from and then gets resized. So best to have page you're linking from have the size you want your actual avatar to be so it'll load faster and not distort page at all.
And Yes, i'm missing the point still Aeonic, I'm the captain at that .

Wow these things keep getting bigger
Well, comic up.
Just a few things I have to say first, feel free to skip.
Spannish Meatloaf, turns out you are more of a veteran than I thought (I.E., than me) Sry for that.
LowEndLem, you get to choose how I draw you! Special guest benefits!
Also, I'm at the end of my guest commentator list :/ any takers?
Lastly, do you guys think I should keep doing FB comics even after the actual event ends? I'm all up for it, and if you say no, I'll do comics on other stuff, because I like doing this stuff. Comment below.

Sehk, I really, really dig these. I love your sense of humor. I think its a good idea to combine some of the matches that didn't see a ton of action, so good move there. You don't want to burn out.
After you've covered the entire Forum Battle, I'm sure there will be some things you can make more comics out of. We'll have to see what comes along down the road.
I would do a guest commentator spot. Not sure how funny it would be, but I'd help out. Either completely make up BS I would say, or I'll see you in the IRC.

I'll sign up for a guest spot.
The comic is hilarious, as always, but a bit hard to read. The panels don't line up well early on.
Also, I'm scared of horses. Seriously. I'm scared of anything with gentle, stupid eyes and enough power to kick you across a field.

Good work Sehk The man Enzo!!! IF you need a co-host sometime i might be game, but i think it's better if you go through as many different people as you can more fun that way.
Might have to exaggerate the content some of the battles had to get more out of the slower ones.
Great job as always Sehk... It'd be neat to see you work on other projects as well.
