So the local college theater behind where I live sells their movie posters for a few dollars when they are done with them. They have these in the little room where you buy tickets and food.
On the stairway leading down to the theater they had both sides of walls on the stairs lined with the movies nominated for best picture for the 2010 Academy Awards.
This is an old school style theater. No stadium seating or anything like that. So I asked the lady who was selling the tickets/food that I noticed the posters that were in that room were for sale but I asked if the ones in the stairway were for sale as well. She said they were and I ended up with this:
I don't know what it is about this movie but I really liked it, and no its not because of George Clooney.
This theater is really cool since they get a lot more of the independent movies that the main theater on the other side of the county does not. I saw "The Ghost Writer" there a couple weeks ago and that was quite good.

The only thing I want to see with the words "Ghost Writer" in it is information about a gritty reboot of the PBS show of the same name.

Which one was that? I remember a Ghost Writer from my early teens but I'm not sure if it was on PBS. Is it this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108787/?

That's it. I was joking about the gritty reboot.
How much do they charge for posters of that size? You should scoop up as many as you can, movie posters in presentable condition from as recently as the mid eighties are worth a ton.

That one was $5, I believe that is a flat rate for any poster. All of the posters they have currently are from stuff they've shown recently though. They don't have anything that is really all that old. Next time I'll take a closer look at the ones that are in the ticket area.
The Up In The Air poster is a little rough on the bottom edges though, but nothing really all that bad I've seen the same poster go for $20 on Amazon, not including shipping so to me $5 for a poster that has a couple rough edges is still a good deal.
I used to have a poster from Tombstone that I got in 1994 from a long out of business video rental store but I think it got thrown away by my parents at some point.

Yes...great movie and for $5 the poster was well worth it.

I used to work at a movie theater and brought home a ton of movie posters. I had them rolled up in my closet forever, and I think I eventually just got rid of them. I did keep a really nice Amelie one though that I framed. They make great wall decor, especially when framed.

No, the green French one with just her face.
This one:
Although the red Japanese one would look fantastic as well and is on my list to get eventually.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed up in the air. Now I wish I could say the same about revolutionary road.

Wait, let's go back to the gritty Ghost Writer reboot! Maybe he makes the walls bleed, or appears as a dismembered human body holding a pencil that he writes sloppy clues with? There's so much potential there.

I just saw Inception at the same theater today and picked up these two posters:
I hope to get the poster for Inception when they switch it out for their next movie.
