Punch Out Wii 2 idea roster

So I remember hearing a while back that Next Level, the makers of the first Punch Out Wii game were interested in making a sequel. Naturally, the first things that I always wonder is how they will treat it? I have to wonder if they're going to reuse the roster they had in the previous game? Honestly, I felt they've done all the can with those particular characters at this time, I mean Little Mac has beaten them so many times before. So naturally, I started wondering if they decided on a new roster, who would they use? Who would they create?

So I decided to come up with what I think would be cool. Like the previous games, they could always exploit the zany stereotypes from different countries. Doesn't have to be blatantly racist or anything, but just that sort of stuff like Soda Popinski. Also, to change it up, I would try to use people who are from countries other than what we got in the previous game. So no Gabby Jay, since he's also from France. Of course, we could see the return of several other characters.

Pizza Pasta- obvious Mafia-esque or Napoleonic...he'd obviously be one of the first three opponents you would face.

Dragon Chan-eliminate his kicks and base more counters on him.

Texas Mac-the character from Arm Wrestling, stereotypical modern cowboy

Bob Charlie-if they could make Aran Ryan cool, they could certainly do the same for Bob.

Narcis Prince-same as above. It's obvious he's a lot like Flamenco, but maybe change up his vanity after you knock him around a bit.

Mask X-another character from Arm Wrestling. The story here is that this is actually Bald Bull, but since he isn't a "contender", then he wears a mask to conceal his identity in order to get another shot at the belt. You could always play something up like, if you punch him in the right manner it'll cause his mask to twist or you could remove the mask for an instant TKO.

Scottish boxer-I was thinking of someone to base this off of, like Roddy Piper. He'd appear in a kilt and get disqualified in the middle of the third round after he body slams you if you are "points wise" beating him.

Cuban boxer- I thought about using Piston Hurricane, but honestly...he's way too similar to Honda in my opinion. If they changed up the moveset and first name, I might be more inclined to keep him around.

Egyptian boxer-obvious Pharaoh stereotype who would look like Yul Brenner and be similar in fashion to Great Tiger.

Argentina boxer- I was thinking of maybe a guy based on Manu Ginnobli, who would be a combo of Glass Joe and Don Flamenco. Vain but easy to KO...so he would be the starter.

New Jersey boxer-This is pretty self explanatory, especially with the craze going on right now. Maybe give him a bit of an MMA look too.

Austrailan boxer-obvious Crocodile Dundee look to the guy, he can even deliver a boomerang style of punches.

Either the return of Mr. Dream or Tyson. Preferably Tyson, since I really felt he was always the quintessential guy to build up to. When you give me something like Donkey Kong, I just don't get as excited.

Anyways, that was my list. Post your own or rip on mine.

Heike Kagero, Narcis Prince, Bear Hugger, and Mad Clown would be welcome additions in my book. Also, Balrog and Dudley.

Bear Hugger was in the last game. I don't know about Mad Clown, he was a little too zany for my taste. I also don't like the fact that a lot of characters in Super Punch Out blatantly used foreign objects. It's one thing to trick someone like Great Tiger would and catch you off guard, but to throw juggling balls or hit you with their hair...that's a little too much. They might be okay, if you decided to take that stuff away. Who's Dudley?

I hated Hoy Quarlow for that reason, but without the juggling, all the Clown of Mad Clown would be his face paint, and Heike Kagero was nothing without his hair.

Dudley is an English Boxer from Street Fighter 3.

Narcis Prince would definitely be an awesome addition, his fight was very interesting.
As for end bosses, you would probably need someone new. The brother bosses from the SNES version weren't remarkable at all.

Mr. Dream would be sweet. Mike Tyson has lost the hype he had from Mike Tyson's punchout. I think it would be a cool addition, but it would be mostly "for old time's sake", and since that was the whole point of the first game, I think they missed their opportunity with that one.

Mike Tyson isn't happening. Period. If Tyson turned his life around, was quiet for a while, and thrown in as a nice bonus, then maybe it's possible. But Tyson is a fucking train wreck and Nintendo doesn't need that image associated with it even assuming Tyson was willing. Mr. Dream is just White Tyson, we don't need him either.

As for the basic idea, I think one of the biggest flaws of Super Punch-Out is that they did throw out all of the classic characters aside from a few. Punch-Out Wii relied too heavily on them, though. I'd say you probably need to bring back 50% of the old cast, maybe 30% reinvention of older boxers (Heike Kagero and Narcis Prince are good candidates), and 20% new blood, though I'm not sure I like any of Dodd's ideas there except the arm wrestlers.

And while we're on the subject of Aran Ryan:

Mad Clown would be okay if they completely reworked his design and him look more clowny. The original design was just Bear Hugger in half-assed make-up. He didn't even have whiteface!

I do want Tyson, but Sandman 2.0 in Punch-Out Wii was essentially Tyson.

Before they put Donkey Kong in Punch-Out Wii, they considered Princess Peach. That would have been amazing. But I think we all know what character needs to be the super secret bonus character if they do a sequel: CAPTAIN FALCON!

A sequel HAS to have King Hippo and Bald Bull, as I'd consider them the quintessential Punch Out opponents. Also, either Super Macho Man or Soda Popinski. They could also introduce new characters. Disco Kid was a fantastic design. How about take-offs on Thunderlips and Clubber Lang?

That's an idea right there. Instead of parodying racial stereotypes, parody famous (real or fictional) boxers.

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal with the so-called racial stereotypes is. They're not that bad. Hell, they're not even offensive at all. It's not like Dragon Chan threw rice at you and yelled "Ha ha, me so solly!", then gave your drying cleaning bill between rounds. Only guy I might consider offensive is Great Tiger, maybe. MAYBE.

But this isn't a Coal Black And De Sebben Dwarfs situation by any stretch of the imagination.

The thing I worry about with bringing characters back is that there was already a lot that was done with them as far as facing them twice in the last game. You'd have to go back and redesign the way they box, and I'm sure that might upset some people. It almost kind of sucks how they used so many of the original characters in the Wii game.

Maybe something they could do is release a Deluxe Edition with double the amount of boxers?

Well, every boxer had TWO fighting styles in the last game. So there is still a lot they could do with guys.

I know, but there was the classic style, then the change up to make it more difficult. This game would have to reinvent the wheel again by making them even more aggressive, or by changing up their routine. It's a shame there's not much of a classic roster en entirely new Wii version with.

I want to see more completely new fighters. Disco Kid is a step in the right direction, so I was disappointed to see that he was the only new face.

You know, fighting games in general don't have many Filipino characters these days.

I'd like to see a Vietnamese boxer who forces you to play Russian Roulette inbetween rounds as Christopher Walken looks on.

I'd like to have a mini game between matches where you arm wrestle Sylvester Stallone.

The first opponent should be Rodney Dangerfield.

Also, how about Wart instead of King Hippo? Wart needs work, dammit.

More Wart is a neat idea, not sure if it fits with Punch Out, but still.

You should be able to box Zed from Pulp Fiction, only to have Maynard blindside you with the butt of his rifle. You wake up facing the gimp, and Doc Louis is in the back room getting raped. You better get ready to land like 8 star punches.
