He told me he has one and is interested in getting rid of it. Now, I might be interested in getting it, but I would like to know what a good price to get it for without overpaying. I don't know the condition precisely, but if anyone would have some insight as far as what I should be looking at here. I looked on ebay, but most of the stuff on there was either mint or in shoddy condition.

He didn't say. He basically got it off someone else and doesn't know what it's worth or if it works. I'd basically want it for nostalgia purposes more than anything, since I did play one WAY back in the day with a friend who's dad owned one. He's bringing it in on Friday to let me take a look at it, I might inquire if I can borrow it and see if it'll work on my HDTV

Well, if you just want it for nostalgia purposes, I'd go for it if it's cheap enough.
If it has the box, or more importantly any of the tons of odd items the box came with, it'd be a sure thing for me. However, I doubt it will, but it's always nice to have a pong system.

Is it an Odyssey or an Odyssey-2? I got my Odyssey-2 for $20... the original might be a little more since it's older.

He didn't specify, since he aquired it from someone. I'll know tomorrow, I might ask to borrow it over the weekend if he's down with that.

I liked the games only because they had Handles on them. I'm surprised that never caught on.

My parents bought one before we had an Atari. Even back then I remember this thing was a piece of crap. That thing takes up a ton of space.

I'd say anything $50 or less. If it's an Odyssey II and it doesn't have a shitload of accessories, then that's about how much it's worth. If it's an Odyssey I, then it might be more expensive then that, but that's about what you should pay for the experience of taping cellophane gels to your TV and playing 150 Pong variants.
