Thanks, it turns out its the original Metroid. Man i haven't played that game in so long.

Right, yeah, that's the original metroid, though you don't really ever hear the bass part in the beginning.

Yea, I dunno, I heard it and immediately thought Game Boy, I was thinking along the lines of Metroid II like Sideway.

This. I only needed to hear the 1st note and knew it was good ol' NES metroid. This marks a sad day in NES history.
