Hey hey! So this Saturday (the 12th), my new band played our very first gig. Allow me to present some history on our band, which is rather similar to that of one Velvet Revolver...
Diane Philp, an old high school chum and vet of all the school bands (R&B, Dixieland, Jazz Choir, et al) was invited to perform at the Chilliwack 4 Children, a fundraiser event for the Variety Children's Charity. Diane however, did not have a band. So she contacted old middle school bandmate Jake Pearce.
Jake was a pianist, and gladly helped Diane out by asking a few musician friends of his to join. Among them was a Mr. Ross Rifle, recruited to play bass. As it turns out, Ryan Freeman, the guitarist, and Steven Bowman, the drummer, bailed on the opportunity.
As a result, Ross was bumped up to his rightful place as guitarist, and they recruited Kyle McGregor to play drums. One month later we have 13 covers down, ready to go. When we found out we could only play a half hour set, we cut the list down to 8 songs.
What we managed to do on Saturday was cram a full rock show into half an hour. We had an intro, drum, guitar, and keyboard solos, and a big ending. We rocked the house amid sound system problems, amp problems, and event disorganization. We even learned that two of the later bands were getting hour long sets when we were told everybody got half hours.
But all that is ok! Because we rocked. Hard. Here's the set:
Intro
Got To Get You Into My Life (The Beatles)/Guitar solo
Rock n Roll Band (Boston)
Drum Solo/Superstition (Stevie Wonder)
Paint It Black (The Rolling Stones)
Misery Business (Paramore)
Can't Help Myself (The Four Tops)
The Only Exception (Paramore)
Keyboard solo/Detroit Rock City (KISS)
Videos are currently uploading to facebook, so anyone who is friends with me (and if you aren't, feel free to add me) can view them. Once Diane sends the actual files to me, I'll post them here.
We are...The Two Words.

Awesome! Congrats on the new band. I can't wait 'til we move and I can start gigging again. It's awful when you don't even have your instrument.

Excellent news, Ross! I'm happy for you, man! Any chance of sneaking in a Dio cover for next time?

Thanks a lot guys! I uploaded the rest of the songs there, so take a peek. As far as a Dio cover, it all depends on Diane's ability, but I'll definitely bring it up at the next jam!
