I'm not sure but this is still a cool take on the MK universe in my opinion. Not sure if it is real or fan made.

This can't be real, and even if it is, it's still a fucking joke.

There has been a rumor of a new Mortal Kombat reboot movie on the horizon, but there's been absolutely no details about it whatsoever so far. Along those same lines, there's also been rumors of a reboot to the game series, and it's possible that this is a live action advertisement for it. It's... technically possible that this is just a fan made film, but nothing at all about it looks fan made, most particularly the actors and actress who appear in it.
Doing some snooping around... I can't find anyone who has a clue what it actually is. I guess we just wait and hope for the best... If that is the premise for a new Mortal Kombat movie, I'd watch it in a heartbeat. Screw Outworld.

Oh. My. God.
I love the mythology of the MK Realms...but holy FUCK, if they can do an MK movie like THAT, then God bless 'em, every one! And I just LOVE the fact that poor Johnny Cage dies yet again lol. The guy can't catch a break even in the reboot!
My only demand: I want a Christopher Lambert cameo. Obviously Raiden's notgoing to be in this (or if he is he won't be a real god) but Lambert owned the first movie, and needs to be included here imho.

That looks really cool. I'd be on board to see this as a full length movie.
Hotter Sonya maybe This seems to be started around MK2. How will they explain Kintaro? Or Shao Kahn?

Looks pretty awesome. Just saw the first Mortal Kombat movie a few months back. This one looks to be just as good, if not better.

Yeah, they said the same thing on Newsarama. I would go see that if they made it into a movie. It's a more realist approach to the game itself. I think it's got all the potential in the world.

You know, while I think this is awesome as a movie, I'd really like them to keep the games as they are--either that, or make this a spin-off franchise or something. But I don't want to completely trade my mythology based MK for the real-world stuff, even if its awesome.

Maybe a comic noir series like marvel has done. I would read that.

This isn't an official trailer. It's a "proof of concept" video. It's basically showing potential studios what the producers want to do.
Speaking of MK, it pisses me off that the development name of the next MK game is MK9. Calling it MK9 counts MKvDCU as part of main MK series, when it should be considered a side game.

We should probably use this thread as a catchall of sorts for MK since any major developments on a game or movie will be a while it seems.

They're releasing the trailer for the next game, titled simply Mortal Kombat, later today. I wonder if these events are related, hmmm....

There's been teaser art for the new MK in the past. I don't think the game and movie will be interrelated.
As Hawk said, the game mythology, as confusing and silly as it can be, should stay intact in the games. If they do reboot the games, Ed Boon's job may be in jeopardy. Right now, he holds the position of Only Guy Who Understands The MK Mythology Entirely, making him irreplaceable. A reboot would put an end to that.

I hope all my favorite guys like Fujin, Mokap, Nitara, Blaze, and Meat are in this! And I hope there are new characters!
The game has been rumored for a Christmas release for months and Boon had promised an unapologetic return to the series roots. Glad to see he was dead serious.

I already posted my thoughts on this in another thread, but I must say that I really wish my favorite character would stop dying on the sidelines.

Holy shit! gotta love that trailer. I think it is pretty funny that Johnny Cage has his name tattooed on his chest. Also that new fatality from Kung Lao looks awesome.
