Well, you brought me into the building...
I don't know, but this is case #2 I've seen of anime-izing an American cartoon.
First was the Powerpuff Girls, which I enjoyed as a little one.

Hey, I stand beside you Bomberman. I enjoy watching the Powerpuff girls. They put alot of references in there that only adults get and find funny.

Like when Mojo Jojo was selling the special kids 'Chemical X' to make them super, and after it wears off, one of the kids starts tweaking and says, "I'd do anything for some Chemical X". To which a very creepy Mojo Jojo evilly replies from an alleyway, "Anything?"

My favorite bit from PPG:
Mojo Jojo: I will tell you my favorite story-about the greatest conqueror who ever lived: Napoleon! He was a mighty man, feared by all who looked up to him. Using his genius and his loyal army, he conquered all of Europe, then all of Russia, and finally the whole world. The end.
Blossom: Your story's all wrong! Napoleon's 1807 seizure of Portugal and the subsequent rebellion by the Spaniards cost France over 300,000 casualties, untold sums of money, and contributed to the eventual weakening of the Napoleonic empire!
Bubbles: And your analysis on the invasion of Russia is also incorrect! Napoleon's invasion of 1812 resulted in massive casualties of his troops, due to starvation and inclement conditions, and ended in a disastrous retreat from Moscow with his army defeated!
Buttercup: Yeah, dummy! And when he returned to France, the allied nations of Europe united against him, which led to his eventual defeat at the Battle of Waterloo on June 18, 1815, whereafter he was exiled to the island of St. Helena, where he died a miserable death from stomach cancer on May 5, 1821, stupid!

I dunno, I liked that one episode that was loaded with Beatles references. As to the original issue of this thread, I like the style change. Now allow me to present something similar:
The Disney Princesses
Chibi Avengers
and lastly, Futurama

You would be suprised by the viewing audience of the powerpuff girls.
If they would have called it the whupass girls, everyone would be okay.

Damn, I'm surprised...
The only difference between those and the one I posted is that Powerpuff Girls Z is an actual anime.
Warning: Staple of this kind of anime: very long transformation sequences.
You can get fansubs of episodes 1-16.

I remember back when they had just the cartoon short in that Cartoon Cartoon series on Cartoon Network. It was pretty sweet, though I was more a fan of Johnny Bravo. I haven't watched it in a long time, but when I can watch it, I usually do.

I watched the Powerpuff Girls. I remember the episode where Princess was trying to get into the team was heavy with DragonBall Z references.
Also, of the style changes presented, I like the Charlie Brown, but I'm not in favor of the other ones. And the Futurama one looks like the basis for another alternate-universe episode.

Anime Charlie Brown strikes me as more of a badass than a sadsack.
Also, someone needs to do that match on MUGEN.

I saw one episode of that on youtube, and was entirely too confused.
also I would bang the red haired girl in the first post.
also, they made charlie brown look like a brooding asshole. that's awesome.

another great example of why I need a multi quote button.
everyoen keeps saying "make this happen in mugen, make that happen in mugen" but I know for a fact there arent any charlie brown or avatar characters in circulation in the community, unles someone has access to a super secret site with awsome never before seen characters taht they would like to give me please.
fuck man, it's hard enough finding a beast that isnt from a SNES x men game.
