So I was checking out my music MySpace (www.myspace.com/rossrifle) and I noticed that I had received a message from a Deep South Entertainment:
Every year we release a compilation of unsigned bands from around the around the world. Between the first 3 compiltions that we have released, 18 bands have gone on to sign deals with major labels (no joke). Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy" was on the very first Deep Compilation over two years before it was a #1 Modern Rock single! Other artist included, Sister Hazel, Five for Fighting, The Marvelous 3 (Butch Walker), and many others.
Deep 4 was just completed and will be released in late April. Other Deep Compilations will be released later this year, it's not too late to get on the next compilation.
In addition, THE ARTISTS ACTUALLY GET PAID to be on the compilation! We simply include one of your songs (non-exclusively) from your existing full length album, your demos, etc. You do NOT have to pay to be a part of this.
Deep South is a record label, artist management company, and event producer.
You can find more about us at our website here: www.deepsouthentertainment.com
So before you ask, this message is NOT spam and not being sent to 5000 different bands. We're looking for 15-17 bands to be on the next compilation, that's it!
So how did we find you?
We have 20 college interns that listen to music to find potential bands for the next compilation, that's how we became aware of your music. More than one of our interns included you on their list of artists that impressed them.
If being on the Deep Compilation is something that interests you at all, please send me an e-mail address for yourself or your manager. I will then send you more information and contact you outside of Myspace. Although Myspace is a great place to find new music, Myspace is sometimes not the best way to communicate about music business.
Even if being on a larger label is not your goal, the Deep Compilation is a great way to expose your music to music supervisors, artist managers, booking agents, and many other facets of the music industry. Over 300 music professionals will get the next Deep compilation.
Congratulations on all of your achievements success in music thus far! We wish you continued success.
Simply put, I read over the contract they sent me, filled out some info, and I'm sending my song to them on Monday. This could very much be my big break!! My only trouble here is figuring out which song to send them. This is where you come in.
Please go to my MySpace www.myspace.com/rossrifle and help pick a song. Keep in mind that this is the only thing major labels will be hearing from me, so I need the most hit-worthy song.

WOW! Way to go, Ross!!!!
Also for voting, I can't decide between "Better" and "She's Gone For Good." "Air" is good too, but its not nearly as catchy or as memorable (imho.)

These songs aren't in the poll or anything, but personally I really thought "Upon This Bridge" and "Where Are You" were fucking amazing.

Good going! Now, if you ever get somewhere with it, remember the little guys, like the ones you've met on message boards

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

Thanks a lot guys!! I've been leaning towards Gone For Good myself (It's the first song I ever wrote, when I was like 13). Air just seemed like my most commercial, which is what I want the big labels to hear. If isn't as catchy as the others though... I would also love to include Upon This Bridge if it wasn't spoken word, Where Are You if it wasn't 8:30 long, and Crocodile Rock if it wouldn't create legal issues haha.
So I think it's gonna be Gone For Good. I'll ship the cds today. WISH ME LUCK!!!
And of course I'll never forget you guys!!
