Yes, Air Man certainly is an asshole. Out of all the Robot Masters in that game, he is probably the most difficult.
A better question for debate would be "Who is your most hated Megaman Robot Master" instead of limiting it to one game.

I always thought Air Man was easy. Quick Man annoyed the fuck out of me. But my most hated boss in that game was the fucking dragon. When I was 8, that was way too much pressure, having to battle a boss while teetering over a bottomless pit. I used to fucking choke at that part every time.

Agreed, that has to be one of the toughest parts of the game. I used to die a lot before you would actually fight him, just jumping on the blocks to get to the actual battle area.
Incredibly frustrating.
You thought Air Man was easy? Bubble Man was easy.

Metal Man was awesome and he had some awesome music as well. My most hated MM2 boss is Heat Man. I hated his stage.
My favorite Megaman 1 Boss is Time Man, because he had the coolest stage and music. I hated Guts Man's lifts.

Quick Man.
First the level is completely unforgiving to the slightest mistake and I often prefer to fight him without having any particular weakness in my stock.
Many a good run has been stopped by Quick Man.

Bubbleman makes me feel guilty for killing him since he's so easy. Quickman takes a little practice. Crashman is impossible without Air shooter. Really, the hardest is Airman. Team neokoman agrees.

The boss that pisses me off the most are the goddamn walls. If you run out of item energy to try and get to the one high up you are fucked. You also can't use the Crash Bombs anymore after that boss.

Quickman is easily the most annoying for me. I don't get what the hatred on airman is though I think both his level and the fight against him are moderately difficult at the most. I will say if we expand to other games though Airman is one of my least favorite fights in Mega Man 3.

Airman will hardly kill you but i always felt helpless against hundreds of random aranged whirlwinds flying towards you. It's just nearly impossible to dodge. but it doesn't matter anyway just blast the shit out of him.
