Tuesday, Nintendo of America launched a new game controller for its popular Wii system. Previously sold only in Japan, the Classic Controller Pro accessory is now available in the United States. It offers a fun new way for all kinds of Wii users to experience their favorite games. The Classic Controller Pro is available in black or white and carries a suggested retail price of $19.99.
Featuring two rows of shoulder buttons and ergonomically designed grips, the Classic Controller Pro is compatible with more than 460 Wii, WiiWare and Virtual Console games. It plugs directly into the Wii Remote controller to provide a unique control option for veteran gamers and newcomers alike.
Consumers also have the option of purchasing a limited-edition product bundle that includes a black Classic Controller Pro and a copy of Capcom Entertainment’s action-filled Monster Hunter Tri game, which also makes its North American debut today. The bundle is offered at a suggested retail price of $59.99. |
Basically you wind up with a black or white dual shock PSX controller you hook up to the wiimote.

I should be getting Monster Hunter from Amazon tomorrow. I sure hope I get a black controller with it. If I don't, I'll live.
They need to stop bundling peripherals with games, cuz I can't resist.

Monster Hunter is retardedly popular in Japan, and MH3 is the third best selling Wii game in that market. So take that as you will. And you're saving $10 by getting the bundle. If you had preordered it like I did, you'd also get a $10 credit toward your next purchase.

Yes! I played MH3 all weekend and the Classic Controller Pro is fantastic.
This is my first experience with the Monster Hunter series, but so far so good. And it's great being able to play a game like this without mandatory motion controls.

I meant that I only play brawl when I'm high. I don't really like Grindfest RPGs like Monster Hunter.

Yea, but every now and then you need a good grindfest game, at least IMO.

Is this the Monster Hunter that was on PS2 (Capcom)? If so I may check it out as that game was not half bad.

Yeah, this is the same series.
Also, Grindfest doesn't really 'fit' Monster Hunter - it's certainly not an RPG. There's no selective stat building, or even a story. You just progressively work towards the singular goal of taking down the biggest, baddest thing you can find.

its one of those games where you kil shit to get better gear so that you can kill bigger shit and get better gear to give you an easier time killing even bigger shit. Theres no plot, there's no big finish. If that's not a grindfest, what should I call it?

Well, it looks cool, but I feel like I'm only going to use it for newer games, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Also, wasn't the Classic Controller meant to be used for retro games? That's what I've mostly used it for, especially since the Gamecube Controller is abysmal for most SNES games.

it also stays incredibly fun throughout (unless you suck at life)
grinding is to denote something that is incredibly repetitive and time consuming, doing the same task over and over again (kill 15 boars) these quests are largely absent from the monster hunter series after you've usually cleared the first five missions.
monster hunter generally breaks down into three different teirs
1. Preparation: This is where you take smaller quests to get money or materials. Usually the most important part because it allows you to get better equipment and combine the items you need.
2: Town preperation: Not as important as the other, but this is things like building your equipment, buying necessary items, grouping up with other hunters etc etc. This is usually where you'll get MOST of the more important secondary items for trapping/killing a monster. (paintballs, poisoned meats etc)
3: An actual hunt: Different from regular quests, this is where you assemble everything you've earned to your inventory and embark to kill your chosen mark, be it a Tigrex or Yian-kut-ku.
