Whenever I turn on my XBox, it is logged into my brother's profile. How do I fix this and make my profile the default one?

Ok, sign into your account, hit the middle button to turn on the guide, go to personal settings, and there is an option called enable auto sign in. Turn it on and there you go.

I distinctly recall you saying long ago that you would never own an XBox. I naturally assumed that extended to the 360.

It was primarily the original XBox that I loathed. It was clunky, the controllers were clunky, and its library was crap. RRoD aside, the 360 is pretty rad. I wasn't impressed with the original line-up that Microsoft previewed for the 360 though. At all.
If I could have stuck with one console, I would have. But I love fighting games. Many of the fighting games I like (SF4, SC4, Tekken 6, MKvDCU, BlazBlue) don't get Wii releases. Hence, I had to get an XBox.

The O.G. Xbox was pretty nifty imo and the KOTOR games are still among the best I've ever played. I liked that you could play movies and music off the hard drive or via a network, making it much more versatile than any video game console before it. And Xbox live more or less revolutionized the way online gaming is done on consoles. I'll give you that the original controller was ridiculous, but the slimmed down redesign wasn't bad at all. How was the system itself clunky? Performance wise it was far superior to PS2 and gamecube and multiplatform games were almost always better on Xbox if I recall.

Yeah, the KOTOR games were great... WHEN I PLAYED THEM ON THE PC.
That was the problem with the XBox. It wanted to be a PC. And it wasn't a very good one. It had online gaming, it played music... just like my PC. Only you know, not as powerful. The XBox's overall library was the weakest of that generation and its graphical capabalities, as a result, were irrelevant. XBox was good for Madden and Halo and games of their ilk, none of which hold my interest. Splinter Cell? Pass.
I think the XBox version of Soul Calibur 2 best sums up the majority of XBox's diehard userbase. The PS2 version of SC2 had Heihachi, a popular Tekken character as its bonus character. The Gamecube version had Link, one of the most beloved video game characters of all time as its bonus character. And the XBox version had Spawn. Spawn, who hasn't been cool or relevant in years. But he stars in an OMG MATURE COMIC for OMG MATURE READERS. And that sort of idiocy resonated with XBox's userbase. OMG MATURE was what the system was all about. And the price, Jesus Christ. $300 was fucking ridiculous for a game system in 2001. By today's standards, not so much. Hell, my last cellphone cost more than that. But the price to value ratio was low. Much lower than it was for the PS2 or GCN, the PS2 being the best buy by far.
In the end, the XBox was a little more than an experiment, and not a great one. By the end of its life it reached a respectable sales rate and it had potential. And you know what? The pieces for a good console were there, but the potential was never quite reached. The 360 fixed this. The 360 is the entertainment hub that the XBox never quite managed to be. Live and DLC for almost every game. Netflix. An addictive achievement system. They took the business model that they started with the XBox, a model that was met with cynicism by its competitors and many gamers (such as me) and turn it into the industry standard. The 360 is everything that XBox-1 could have been if MS knew what they were doing from the outset. But entering the console industry is a learning process. Sony and Sega weren't immediately successful, either, though Sony managed to reverse its fortunes in a single generation.

I actually think it is impressive that they did so well on just a second generation system.

They were first to market with their nextgen, which always pays off. It was a large part of why the Genesis was so succeesful.

You know what the best Xbox game was? Kung-Fu Chaos, it's a travesty that it isn't backwards-compatible with the 360.

It seems we all have a common enemy in the 360's crappy so-called "backward's compatibility".

I was going to buy the MvC2 disc at one point, but apparently THAT doesn't work on the 360. The point was rendered moot though when MvC2 came to XBLA.

Dude, great to see you on Live, but good lord. I don't know how long you've had it, but you NEED to play some more of the big games for sure!

SC2 had spawn because he is macfarlane's favorite creation, and I dunno if you knew this, but macfarlane designed the looks for ivy, nightmare, astaroth, voldo, soul edge itself, the sword that's made when soul edge and soul calibur combine, and a half dozen other things in the game. That's why in the rest of the games all of the above looked different.
also, namco was creating spawn: armageddon around the time SC2 came to consoles. It was supposed to be a promotional sort of thing.
spawn was actually the first guest character considered, and was going to be on all three consoles, then namco decided to get all cross promotional.

I'm pissed that Def Jam: Fight For New York isn't BC, because I have two dead Xboxs, and a working 360.
I have the GC version of the game, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Xbox version in quality.

Eliminate all the multi-platform games from a console library (be it multi-plat on release or down the round ex: GTA series) and to a individual there may be less then a dozen game that appeal to them.

Nintendo tends have a higher level of good exclusives, because they make games. Sega had the same advantage.
In recent years, exclusives have become increasingly rare from third party companies due to development costs. The Wii has the highest number of exclusives right now, but most of them are shovelware.
