The movie was exactly what I expected with the sole exception of the excessive blood and gore. To that note, I got exactly what I wanted out of the movie... a fast action flick with ninjas, swords, throwing stars, and stealth... not to mention whatever the fuck this thing is.
Still... I won't watch it again due to the ridiculous over the top corn syrup splatter that made it just plain old silly.
lol my cousin told me the same thing. my cousin is about 5 years older than me (32 i think) and he grew up on all the 80's horror flicks and EVEN he said it was too gory/bloody.
now that you confirmed it, i will probably end up catching it sometime.
thanks

Looks like a kusari-gama, except that the kama is replaced with a short katana.
I didn't bother with the movie and it looks like my opinion of it was accurate.

I have no interest in seeing it. A kung-fu movie should be done with real stunts. I'm not impressed with this CG bullshit.

actually, all the stunts were done by live performers. the weapons and all that shit were done w/CG but the fighting and stunts were done legit. including the tunnel/car scene.

I'm just going by the previews I saw. Looks like they're just flipping around, dodging imaginary weapons.

The story is dumb, acting blows, but if you like vapid, brutal violence then this is your movie. And I'm not saying that in a negative way...sometimes a movie like this is fun to watch. It was entertaining to me at least, as the action sequences were well done and there's enough to make it worth your time. I got to see it for free in the theater and I actually kind of enjoyed it...but that might have been enhanced because I didn't spend any of my own money to see it. Worth a $1 Redbox rental.

I stole it from work. I agree with the "watch it for free" theory.

Ahhhh I see a thread about this movie and I just had to leave a comment.
The main actor is a dude named Rain, who's actually a famous singer from Korea. This is his second acting attempt for Hollywood (the first being an appearance in Speed Racer, which I never saw but really want to for the lolz).
He just released a single in Korea, actually, that's doing really well. Warning: Do not watch this if you are self-conscious of the fact that this guy is ripped and knows how to work it.
Incidentally, the guy who played his younger self when he was still training with the clan is Lee Joon, who just so happens to be a member of the hip-hop/pop/rap group that Rain is managing and producing right now. Interesting group that's getting a lot of popularity but this has got to be the most repetitive song in recent memory. Someone needs to count how many times they sing "oh yeah" :\
(Lee Joon is the one wearing the strips for a shirt here who flashes his abs at 2:02ish. And knowing that most of you are heterosexual males, I'd be surprised if that makes any of you want to watch this.)
Anyway, I loved this movie if only because I love Rain and all his ridiculousness. The plot is kind of dumb but the action is fun to watch, and oh yeah, that scene where he balances his weight on his hands on that pad of nails and does push-ups? The directors wanted him to do that himself, no stunt double, so he had to train and get his ass in the best shape of his life to pull it off. I swear the whole movie is nothing but hot manflesh eyecandy. That's definitely why me and my friends went to see it, anyway. And to giggle at Rain's silly English. Oh, Rain.

I agree with previous comments about this movie.
Lots of blood/gore, elaborate action sequences and a near excessive use of black when the ninja are around. I thought it was ok, it'll make a good movie for a Kung Fu movie night along side Versus, Death Trance, and Forbidden City Cop.

That's why he looked so familiar! He was in "I'm a Cyborg, but that's OK", which was a much better movie, though far less gory and oddly, more chick-flicky.

Was he? I'm really bad with keeping up on Korean movies and I'm honestly new to the fandom :33 Though I've heard about it! Maybe I should give it a try.
