i run in several a year. i think it's great to run with so many people around you, and everyone is usually very friendly. also, the t-shirts that are usually given for participation are a nice plus.

I took 5th
And I would know my time except for the fact the the machines they were using died
After the race the guy who took first started talking to me. He told me I did good and asked if I did cross country. after talking for a bit, he told me there was another 5k in a month to benefit the special Olympics. He told me he'd email me the information next week if I want. and of course I gave him my email.
I think I enjoy these

Good for you! They are a lot of fun, especially if you get the right crowd. Plus you raise money for good causes, which is always a good thing. I hope your next one is equally successful!

5th place, nicely done! I was always one for triathlons over 5Ks though. I like going through a series of events rather than running for 20-30 minutes.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

Good job Hacker. I did a 5K about 8 years ago and I did well, but didn't place though. These days I would probably collapse dead in the second kilometer.

Unless your sister is a guy I don't plan to have a husband. (and even then I doubt it)
But thanks to all of you other people
My legs were fine last night but now there sore as hell. and the sad thing is I feel like I could run a mile.

Start drinking a lot of beer, that will pack some weight on.

I walk about fifteen kilometres most days, ten at a minimum. I tried running, and was really, really out of breath at about four kilometres and stopped. Dumb smoking.
So... yeah, good job, Hack.

Hacker, I think it is great that you ran a 5k and enjoyed it. Keep it up man!
Back when I was in 7th & 8th grade I ran cross country races that were generally 3.1 - 3.2 miles (5k). My times were terrible, but it was fun and it is a great way to stay in shape. As I got older my knees became messed up from skiing moguls and a particularly memorable ice hockey hit. That ended long distance running for me, but I am considering trying to build my legs up to do it now.
Oh, and if it matters, when I was in high school I was 5'4" and weighed 115-120lb the whole time. Currently I am 5'7.5" and when in shape i weigh ~150lb. When out of shape 165lb. The weight will eventually catch up with you, so don't worry about it.
