When I first saw the trailer, my fears were "Oh great! An American remake of the awesome Swedish film Let the Right One In." It seems I was right, waiting 2 years after the original's release to bring it out. I'm sure the message/characerization will be mangled, just like The Grudge compared to Ju-On, or whatever the original Japanese was called.

In short, not seeing it and neither should you people. Go rent the original instead.

I won't see either one. I've heard how great the Swedish one is, but something in me just doesn't feel right about watching two 13 year olds fall in love and vamp on each other as some allegory to underage sexual tension.

Also, remakes aren't always necessarily bad. The Grudge held it's own pretty well and was a decent movie, as was The Ring. Granted, both films were pretty much shot for shot copies of the originals, but still.

I love the original. This actually looks pretty faithful from the trailers. If it's not, at least the change the name. I'm interested to see it, to see if/how they interpreted it differently.

Also, I feel really bad for Chloë Moretz. Between this and Kick Ass, she is going to get kidnapped by 4chan /b/tards and raped.

My wife wants to see it pretty badly, so I'll probably end up watching it.

I was wondering when someone would say this. And as it happens, I'm a sensible /b/tard (if that's even possible), so I can keep you all posted.

Cue the picture of insane laughing.

They're doing the same thing with "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" movie. The original was a Swedish film and they are getting ready to start filming an American version staring Daniel Craig.

Hollywood really must be out of ideas when they need to make an American version of a foreign film that is still fairly recent.
