Going to High School in the 90s it seemed there were 2 kinds of kids in my school. Gangsta wannabes and Ska kids. IF not either they were into Punk and thus by proxy also dabbled in some Ska.
Anywho For whatever reason I went a Ska rampage this week and grabbed what I could. Save Ferris, Bosstones, Sublime, Goldfinger, Operation Ivy, Reel Big Fish, The Specials, the Beat ect (Fishbone is too weird for me)
While Ska isn't by any means my favorite music it's pretty much musical prozac.
Anyone else dabble in Ska? Any suggested bands while I build my Indie record store on an External Hard drive?

Go two-tone, it is twice as skankin'. The Specials, The Skatalites, The Selecter, you could even get some The Toasters.

It's not rape if you rape everyone who accuses you.

Dude, going to high school just a couple years ago, there were only wiggers and ska kids. The only bands in town are ska and 'punk' too.

Agreed. I was also a huge Operation Ivy fan back in the day as well. Too bad they evolved into Rancid and got boring and abrasive.

Check out Catch 22. They're one of my favorites, and they're from my home state.

I mostly dig on ska-punk, but even then I'm mostly limited to Mustard Plug and Operation Ivy.

What about grunge? |
In the mid-to-late '90s, there was a ridiculously short ska explosion (I refuse to say Skasplosion, since it was probably the name of half the god-damned albums that came out during then), the beginning point coming around the time Rancid's ...And Out Come the Wolves came out.
Oh, I also forgot about Slapstick and Less than Jake ("Automatic" is one of my favorite songs). They kicked ass.

The first, last, and best Ska band was "Madness".

Skeletones! Dr. Bones is classic! The Independents, Early Sucide Machines. (their new stuff is weak.) And to play devil's advocate download the track "Ska Sucks" by Propagandhi. Pretty much sums up the early nineties ska revival...hehehe.

Skaface, Skankin' Pickle
And they were more of a swing band, but ska and swing revival were big around the same time, so Squirrel Nut Zippers.

If you're into Ska-punk, check out The Hippos. They've always been one of my favorites, although they only made a few albums.
