This has been a bit of a hot topic and I am interested to hear what people think about Senator Graham's position.

She makes a good point about recycling and all that being a value to younger generations, as we grew up having the importance of it thrust upon us. I don't really know what to believe about global warming, as I've heard plenty of evidence about it going both ways. But there's definitely something to be said for energy conservation and generally being green, and older politicians would do well to realize that it's a big deal to younger people.

I'm a conservative somethingorother my self (honestly, I don't even know these days. political standpoints skew so many different directions, but I consider myself a republican)

I've always held that Global Warming is something true, but nowhere near the proportion people like Al Gore blow it out to be, it's more along the line of a climate trend that the earth goes through. (global cooling, much?)

I met Graham back in 04, and he was a MAJOR dick. Talk about a douchebag who is full of himself and totally disconnected. I went to a breakfast at the capitol with some other Marines and the dude blew us off, but when the reporters started taking pics he B-lined for us and wanted to take pics like we knew who the fuck he was. Anyways, the guy sucks balls, but he makes a good point.

Edit: This man is so much in the closet, and Jim Webb knows it. Jim Webb FTW!

When i see a topic on climate change i'm on it like flies on shit.

First off it's better to use Climate Change since it refers to the climate and how it has always changed rather than Global Warming which has only occurred during certain periods mainly the Tertiary and the present day.

Secondly i agree with what he's saying to a degree. I don't agree when he say's the "science of climate change" probably because he does not have an understanding of climatology or meteorology so if he had an opinion on it based on science i would regard it as mute. The politics of climate change is a different matter entirely which i don't really deal with since it's usually scaremongering.

Actually on topic though... Yes i agree with what he is saying. The age groups he was stating about do generally have a better understanding/more appreciation for the environment.

In N.Ireland most people don't believe in Climate Change.. not surprising when you look at the demographics of the UK as most people are in their middle ages and there will be a swing in population makeup to mostly old in the coming decades but there is still a lot of oldish people now and none of them believe in climate change.

I would talk about religion here but it's against rules, all i will say is that it has a part in peoples perceptions of climate change.

Irrespective whether any of you believe in climate change or not you should at least appreciate the measures that are being taken are better for the environment. The reduction of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere as well a change to renewable/sustainable energy sources is a good thing and if you can't see that then your just a fool really.

I am "religious" and firmly believe in climate change. I don't understand how people think we can dump all this shit in the air and there would be no repercussion. To paraphrase Bill Maher, God did not make us dominion over the earth so we could beat the shit out of it like a rental car.

I know what i said was or maybe hinted at was a generalization but i can't possibly include every religious persons feelings.

Trends here show (i will link the paper if you are interested) that most religious people here don't believe in climate change.

That is all i am saying on the matter.

I was agreeing with you, I meet them every day. It blows my mind. I guess most people cannot comprehend both science and religion at the same time, it always seems to be only one or the other.

I'm in. The man is a former Vietnam Marine (highly decorated combat veteran), former Secretary of the Navy for Reagan/Bush, former Republican, an accomplished writer whose novel is mandatory reading in the Marines, and has a son in the Marines who is in Iraq. I think Obama really screwed the pooch in passing him over for Vice. Hopefully he will run in the near future, I will quit whatever I'm doing and campaign for the man.

Dear god, watching people argue like that on TV makes me want to shut it off. Where is the middle man to shut them both up and direct the conversation.

In any case, I happen to think that Webb's position was the correct on in that debate.

As for the original topic, it saddens me that the earth has to deal with our shitty politics and suffer because some people just have to be right in an argument.
