In the 1980s, painted movie ads were the norm in Thailand. These exquisitely creepy collages didn't just divulge important plot points to audiences... they were scarier than the movies themselves.
Like Ghana, Thailand is one of those nations where the painted movie poster was an art form unto itself. Here are some of the best Thai horror posters from the decade. They range from simply quirky to weapons-grade nightmare fuel. Don't gaze at these too long, lest your rods and cones atrophy in fright.

It always boggles my mind how completely fucking wussy someone people are. Those are cool posters and all, but they're not going to "melt my face" or force my "rods and cones atrophy in fright". Whoever wrote that is a fucking crybaby who probably still wets the bed.

These posters are the kind of things that would've given me nightmares for weeks as a kid. Now they're just awesome.
I really like the ones for Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street 2. Also, the poster with the wolf's jaw coming out of the dude's mouth is friggin' psychotic.
