This just came out on Wiiware, it's a sequel to the original NES game made by Sunsoft. I just downloaded this and I must say it is fantastic, the updated visuals are nice and the music is fucking perfect. Any fans of the original must download this, all the classic gameplay is there.
I have to play more as I only played like one minute of the game before creating this thread, but I was that excited by the game. Excuse me while I get back to it.
I'm going to have to look into this. I liked the NES version and the PSX game was alright

Wow, this is out of left field. (At least I don't recall hearing anything about it). I've been playing the NES version on Virtual Console, so I'll definitely check this out tonight when I get home. Did they use songs from the NES version?

Looks like what Blaster Master would have looked like on the SNES.

Blaster Master : Enemy Below was for GBC I think.
Is that the one that is basically Bomberman only called Blaster Master? Either way, I had no idea this game was coming out and I can't thank you enough for bringing this to my attention Andrew Man. I know what I'm going to be downloaded tonight. Is it a sequel or an actual remake? The trailer and music make it seem like a remake? I'm fine with either myself, but can't wait to try it out.

That video looks amazing. From the level 1 music in the video it looks like they kept with the essence of the original tracks that made them so great.

You're confusing that with Blaster Master Boy/Jr. which was a retitling of Bomber King Scenario 2, the sequel to the original game which was known as Robowarrior here.
The NES version was awesome even though I didn't get very far in it, and the PSX game WAS fun but I got very annoyed by going in circles so I gave up on it, I'll probably go through it sometime in the future.

Are we sure this is a sequel and not a remake/reimagining? It looks an awful lot like a prettier version of the NES game. I didn't see a single thing in the gameplay, aside from shiny graphics, that seemed to set it apart from the NES game or improve upon it in any way.

Think of it as Blaster Master: All Stars
Prettier graphics, likely different hit areas on bosses, no cheat of pausing the game to kill the crabs, and the lingering suspecion you're somehow moving slower. Which may or not be true, since extra frames were likely added to the old animations.

Played the original into the ground, and this is definitely new and unique level design.
They kept the original difficulty intact as this game has been kicking my ass a little bit.
Blaster Master was one of those NES games from my childhood that no one knew what the fuck it was except me. It kind of flew under everyone's radar. I remember it being really, really difficult too but an awesome game nonetheless.
That music will always have a special place in my heart.

I never heard there were other Blaster Master games aside from the NES one, which I loved.

Me to dude, none of my friends ever knew what I was talking about. That and the the basketball game, Arch Rivals.

Haha add me to that list! No one ever knew what game I was talking about when it came to Blaster Master. It's actually the last NES game I have left to beat that I loved from my childhood, but I still can't beat it to this day (I refuse to use the grenade glitch, or look online for maps), but I did make it to the final world once before I died, and I haven't touched it since, although I'm sure I will at some point.
