How much is this movie going to suck? It's a mix of every joke from Doctor Do Little to Doctor Do Little 3. Brendan Frasier is going to lose a lot of respect.

How is Brendan Frasier smart enough to jump on movies like School Ties and The Mummy series, and then manage to do shit like this, George of the Jungle and Monkeybone? Is his agent just trying to jerk him around, or what?

Methinks it's because he is a terrible actor who has been in a few semi good movies.

Brendan Fraser is a good actor who doesn't get offered good roles. The Mummy movies weren't all that great, but they did draw money. I really wish he would have gotten offered better roles after that. He must have a terrible agent. Also, he has trhee children born in 2002, 2004, and 2006, which may explain Furry Vengeance. Dudley Dooright and George of the Jungle were classic properties based on cartoons he likely watched as a kid, and I chalk up his involvement in those movies to that. Monkeybone had potential, but didn't quite work.

Good movies that Fraser has been in:

Airheads
Crash
Extraordinary Measures
Journey To The End of the Night
The Air I Breathe
Blast From The Past
The Last Time
The Quiet American
School Ties
Encino Man

I wanted to like Looney Tunes: Back In Action, but the ending ruined it for me.

I actually really liked The Quiet American. Other than Encino Man and Airheads, I can live without the man.

Am I seriously the only one who really enjoyed the Mummy movies? The first one was great, second one was pretty meh, and the third one was awesome thanks to Jet Li and the change of scenery. Yeah they're goofy, but its a good kind of goofy, and the action and writing are both solid. None of them ever reach the heights of something like a Raiders of the Lost Ark obviously (what movie can?) but they're still a ton of fun.

Also, Arnold Vosloo was absolutely epic as Imhotep.

kid movies are where the money is at. little kids eat those movies up like candy.

thats why eddie murphy makes so many kid movies.

So by that logic, if he quits doing them, I'll start finding him funny again?

Over the Hedge was a CG movie about talking animals raiding human territory, whereas it seems this movie is about a human developing in a nature habitat. Also, I liked Over the Hedge (even though it's not that great a movie)

You liked Mega Piranhas, too! I simply can't trust your judgement about movies anymore. Razz

I had a ton of FUN watching Mega Piranhas! It was a terrible movie, but it was a very *self-aware* terrible movie that not only had awesomely ridiculous scenes (giant carnivorous fish eat a helicopter!) but clearly understood exactly what it was and who it was trying to appeal to. Doing a film like this as well as Mega Piranhas did is a whole art form in and of itself, if you ask me. A completely lowbrow and trashy art form to be sure, but damned if these guys didn't know exactly who their audience was, and just the right notes and tones to strike. It really was a brilliant piece of filmmaking, and one of the best times I've had watching a movie in a while. (And yes, I know you were just teasing when you mentioned this, but I had to elaborate anyway Smile ).

The Mummy movies were definitely not a parody. There were MOMENTS of that, but on the whole they was created to be a straight-up adventure movie, and they succeeded pretty well at that I think (especially the first one.) Not the highest quality writing or acting, but the set pieces are great and the story never got boring. That counts for a lot in that sort of movie I think.

Watch it again. Humans invaded the animal's territory.

I saw a clip on The Soup where a dude was on his back bicycle-kicking one piranha after another as they jumped at him. Great ab workout, I'm sure.

As for the Mummy movies, I only saw the first two. I remember having a fairly fun time with the first one, but if I remember the second one was more dumb than fun. Haven't seen any of the others.

I couldn't find anything like that in his filmography.

Looking over his list of films, I'd like to see The Passion of Darkly Noon. I was also reminded of the awesome film, costarring Sir Ian McKellen, Of Gods and Monsters.
