Nintendo has confirmed a 2009 release for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, DS remakes of the principal Generation II Pokémon games, Gold and Silver, which were originally released for the Game Boy Color in 1999 in Japan. Speculated by fans to be in development since the release of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the remakes will take gamers back to the Johto region, found west of Kanto — this time as Generation IV games.

The games will most likely be able to link to Diamond, Pearl and Platinum as shown by game data.

HeartGold and SoulSilver will be released in Japan this fall, possibly on or near Nov. 21, the 10th anniversary of the original release of their namesakes. International releases will likely come in mid-2010.

Since I've got a complete dex. I may or may not get this, depending on what extra stuff they add/change I may or may not get this. I also think they should've stuck with the materials theme of the names i.e. GoldSun and MoonSilver.

I knew they were going to do this eventually. I always loved my copy of Crsytal, it's only a matter of time before they remake that as well. Out of impluse I'll probably wait until they release the special edition of the set. I just hope they keep the radio feature from the original series, that and the ability to send money to your mom after battles. That's just me being nitpicky though.

So if they made a FireRed and LeafGreen, shouldn't they make a ElectricYellow, WaterBlue, and EarthBrown?

So FireRed and LeafGreen are remakes of Red and Blue?

it is themed after the two original game, Red and Green. Green was a japan release only though, and when they updated the game with blue, just released blue and an updated version of red here.

but yeah, there is just a lot of updates, and some stuff to do after the elite four from what I understand, I never picked these up

Including being able to catch a lot of the pokemon they introduced in Silver and Gold.

I really wish Nintendo would release a decent console based pokemon RPG for Christ's sake.

Fuck, pull this shit on me when I've just started playing Platinum.

But I think I'll give this a spin just to see how it is. I went from Blue, then Yellow, then I fell off.

Silver was my favorite, and the one I actually got the farthest in, but I doubt I'll pick this up. I'm still not even halfway through Pearl though. I just get bored with Pokemon so easily now.

I'll probably get Gold when it's released, assuming it has the same exclusive Pokes like last time.

I always thought Gold had the better pokemon, but Lugia is so much cooler than Ho-oh.

Now that I think about it they'll probably not release a Crystal remake. The only version I played out of Gold and Silver was Gold, however just to mix things up I think I'll try the Silver remake. I suppose I could always unwrap my copy of Platinum and play it to help get reacquainted with the series.

they should do a remake of red and blue to the DS, it might just compel me to get a DS just to play red again (the most kick ass one of them all)

They did Red already, and Green was supposed to be Blue's replacement.

Sounds pretty cool. I enjoyed playing Red back in the day and really enjoyed the Fire Red/Leaf Green remakes for the GBA. I also enjoyed Silver/Gold as well and that it added some cool new elements and a ton more Pokemon to catch. I haven't really played much past Silver/Gold or the remakes of Red/Blue.

Similar to Pikachu in Yellow, it seems whoever you choose for a starter pokemon will follow you around.

see, i'm out of the loop with pokemon. The funny thing is i was at a friends birthday party and even though most of the people there were younger then me, we all talked pokemon . . . and we understood what we were talking about . . . it was . . . different.

Follow you around, huh? Sounds cool. I'm going to look into it, I always buy at least one version of each new pokemon set released. It could be worse though, I could religiously dedicate myself to getting perfect EV's and IV's.

I should finally grab me a GBA and buy all the Pokemon games, one from each generation. Red from I, Crystal from II, Ruby or Emerald from III and Platinum... Then these remakes... And the console games... And the Pokemon Mini...

...Shit. Does anyone want to buy a liver?

So the latest little gimick might not even hit us at all what with Japan being so far ahead of getting these games:

"If you send over the special Pikachu-colored Pichu from the 12th movie release event (given away between June 19th and July 18th, a special event will occur. This event takes place in Ilex Forest, as you pass by Celebi's shrine with the Pichu in your party, a Notched-Ear Pichu will appear. There's no information as of yet if this is just a story event or if it adds any new pokemon to your team."
