It's time for the playoffs again, so it's time to bring the pick-em game back again.

The rules, copy/pasted from last year, except that because of the poor economy there's been rampant point inflation.

-All picks for the entire playoffs must be in before the -first- playoff game. Up until then, you can change them, but once the first game begins, your choices are locked in.
-Picking the winners in the Wild Card round gets you 10 points per correct pick. Each winner in the Divisional Round gets you 20 points. Picking the Conference Champion gets you 40 points. And the Super Bowl Champ gets you 60 points.
-Only the winners matter. You don't have to pick the exact matchup, so long as the team you picked for that round advances.
-Remember that after every round, the teams are "reseeded". The highest-ranked remaining seed plays the lowest-ranked remaining seed at home in each conference.

Okay, but see, this time, there's an actual prize here. The winner of the challenge will get a $10 gift card to Amazon.com. Yes, for real. And if the winner of the pick-em is one of the winners of the Deadpools, they get double prizes. Yep, if Not Sure or Sexton Hardcastle wins, they get $20. Ties will result in a split prize. The Coin (this year a 1974 dime) is not eligible for a prize.

Here are the seeds and the first round matchups. Get your pick in before the first playoff game starts. (4:30 EST, January 9) If you're not sure who's gonna be playing who in later rounds, ask for help. I'll do my picks later.

AFC Seeds
1 - Indianapolis Colts
2 - San Diego Chargers
3 - New England Patriots
4 - Cincinnati Bengals
5 - New York Jets

I'd be a fool not to participate with a chance for TWENTY dollars! I'm gonna have to wait a couple days before I make mine though, my heart wants to take New England all the way, but my brain says I shouldn't.

Okay, to clarify...We are guessing the playoff game winners without knowing the matchups, right?

So if your SB Champ gets knocked out in the first round your pretty much fucked?

You are picking how the playoffs will playout from just the opening round matchups. If you pick the Cards to win the superbowl and they lose to the packers then yes...you are effectively fucked unless everyone else screwed up too.

Yeah. You need to pick the entire playoffs from the get-go. That's why later rounds score more points.

Well, I guess I'll get things started here.

New York at Cincinnati . Like I could ever pick the Jets to win something.
Baltimore at New England. The Pats are weak, but beating them at home is still a bitch of a thing to do.
Philadelphia at Dallas. I see no reason this will change.
Green Bay at Arizona. Just a feeling.

Cincinnati at Indianapolis. Indy should have kept the petal down, three weeks of soft play and rest isn't going to do them good. Yeah, this is a suicidal pick.
New England at San Diego. The Pats haven't won a serious road game in a while.
Arizona at New Orleans. Keep the Saints dream alive.
Dallas at Minnesota. In a battle of two teams I hate with two quarterbacks I hate, both of which are good, I'll just take the home team.

Cincinnati at San Diego. No brainer.
Minnesota at New Orleans. Wouldn't be the Saints if they didn't choke.

San Diego vs Minnesota. Though if I thought winning would finally make Favre retire, I'd want to see that.

And now, The Coin:

New York at Cincinnati
Baltimore at New England
Philadelphia at Dallas
Green Bay at Arizona (I swear, 4 Tails in a row)

Cincinnati at Indianapolis
New England at San Diego
Arizona at New Orleans
Dallas at Minnesota (thank God, that, was getting creepy)

Cincinnati at San Diego
Dallas at New Orleans

Cincinnati vs New Orleans

I'm avoiding reading this thread because I recorded last week's games and still haven't gotten through them yet, but I want in on this in case there is a deadline or something.

If there is a deadline (I assume before kickoff on Saturday), can someone PM me and just let me know when it is so I don't miss it please?

I've decided to follow my heart with my picks and pick more on what I would love to see happen then what may actually happen. It's NFL, any one can win any given week. Here we go!

New York at Cincinnati: I hate The Jets and Rex Ryan pisses me off. He claims they should be the Super Bowl favorite, and I see them losing the first round.
Baltimore at New England: Don't pick against The Pats and Brady at home, especially in the playoffs.
Philadelphia at Dallas: I just don't see Romo doing anything in the playoffs...ever.
Green Bay at Arizona: Arizona is banged up, Green Bay will take it.

Cincinnati at Indianapolis: Despite Indy not really playing since part of The Jets game, I don't think The Bengals are good enough to beat them.
New England at San Diego: My brain says I should pick The Chargers, but they are one of my most hated teams, so I just can't bring myself to pick them.
Philadelphia at New Orleans: The Saints are just to explosive to lose to The Eagles, especially at home.
Green Bay at Minnesota: I just wanna see Favre lose to Green Bay.

New England at Indianapolis: The rematch every one would love to see.
Green Bay at New Orleans: Saints are just to good.

New England vs. New Orleans: Brady takes home his 4th Super Bowl ring.

New York at Cincinnati: This is a tough one. The Jets defense is #1 in the league and they pretty much shut Cinci down completely last week (7 total yards in the first half). However, their offense was all rushing, so I think the Bengals will adjust to that, and considering most of their playmakers will be starting again, they have to be the favorites. Maualuga being out though is a huge blow to their defense and leaves a huge hole for the red-hot Jets backs to find. Also, Darelle Revis is a beast. Going with the underdog here.

Baltimore at New England: Pretty easy one here. Baltimore barely limped into the playoffs and I don't think they have the talent to best the Pats, as much as I would like them too. Welker being out might be huge, but Belichik always seems to adjust.

Philadelphia at Dallas: Romo is playing really well and is having the best season of his career. Dallas' December losses weren't his fault and Philly just looked flat and lost last week. I think this is the year Dallas finally wins a playoff game.

Green Bay at Arizona: Arizona is banged up and having watched them get swept by the Niners both times this season, they don't seem nearly as talented and explosive as they were last season. Green Bay on the other hand is definitely a playoff team.

Divisional Round:
Jets at Indianapolis
New England at San Diego
Green Bay at New Orleans
Dallas at Minnesota

Championship Round:
San Diego at Indy
Dallas at Green Bay

Super Bowl:
San Diego vs Dallas

You actually didn't. Your second round should be Ciccy vs San Diego, Indy vs Baltimore, Philly vs NO, and Minnesota vs Arizona.

Your entry is fine since all you need to do is pick the winners, but if you want to change any of your picks based upon those matchups, you can have a little bit of time to change them.

Points updated, under the assumption Philly just ain't scoring 20 points in 3 1/2 minutes without the football.

That shouldn't count. That wasn't the New England Patriots, I think it was the London Silly Nannies.

EDIT: Scores updated. Make sure I got them right.

You know that urban legend of the kid who got a 0 on the SATs and that meant he was clearly a genius because he must have known the correct answer to every question to get them all wrong? See how I got every single first round game wrong? Just think about it.
