God I fucking loved this game as a kid...seriously just all around fun...I remember we got to play it if we did well on our math tests, so I was always sure to do good.
Is that a kid playing baseball underwater with a fucking alien?

Anyone remember the game that played a lot like number munchers but featured weird little robot things instead of a frog?

Math Blaster?
Checked the screen shots, don't think so. the play field was set up like the girders in Donkey Kong, but it was monochrome. You raced your little robot against the pc controlling the rest and I think it was turn based. You had to correctly answer the math question once you landed on it to move forward.

I remember Falling Star and some other program starring "Micro", but never a robot game.

I know what you're talking about, but I don't know WHAT you're talking about, if that makes sense.

My memory isn't very clear, but I seem to recall it looking something like this.

Slayer, was that the game where you had to walk around the levels and find all the numbers 1-9?

Ah, I remember Number Munchers. I don't remember exactly HOW you played, or what happened when the Trogs caught you, but I remember it being a lot more fun than being in class.
Still, if given the choice, I'd take Oregon Trail any day.

The idea is you were on a grid, and the top would display a math problem or something depending on the exact game (for example it would say "Even numbers" or "Fractions greater than 1/2"), with a bunch of answers on the grid. You had to walk around the grid and eat the answers. Eating a wrong answer cost you a life.
The Troggles ate you when they caught you, of course. But the kind of cool part was there were several of them that all behaved differently. Some went in a straight line, but others chased you or actually ran away from you, and it was kind of cool to manipulate them into eating each other...and while most of them changed the answers, one of them ate took them away, and another one added in new answers in the empty squares (I hated that fucker!).
Anyone remember a game called O'Dell Lake? Basically you get to choose what kind of fish you are, and you have to act accordingly in the lake. Larger fish could eat smaller fish, the osprey could eat any fish, etc.
Mackinhaw trout pwned all.

I owned Odell Lake on C64. I beat the game with all 6 different types of fish and unlocked Shark Mode, where you can eat the osprey.

Damn, know what that reminds me of? Mathman, from Square One TV. I hate math, but that show was always appointment viewing for me. Everything I know about math I can honestly attribute to watching hours and hours of this show as a kid.
Anyway, here's a sample Mathman segment for those unfamiliar:

Except for the fact that Oregon Trail was insanely easy.
Don't get me wrong, I loved playing it, but that was because I was a sadist who enjoyed killing my entire party and going hunting where I kill about 30 buffalo but I'm only able to carry 200 lbs back to the wagon. Poor bastards.

No surprise, but I loved Square One.

I loved that. I always rooted for Mr. Glitch.
The "Mathnet" things at the end were nice, though they probably threw that one in for the parents. I never got most of it.

Mathnet was my absolute FAVORITE.
Speaking of very old math games, though, does anyone remember a game that involved birds? As far as I can remember it, it had different types of birds (blue jays, cardinals, etc) sitting on a tree/ion a birdhouse/whatever. You were then presented with a simple math problem, and if you got it right, the birds would tweet/sing to you. I used to adore that game, but can't find the name or screen shots to save my life.
