Those are cool, but most likely I would play with those while they sat on my lap...I'm sure it would be uncomfortable after a while.

I have the TE stick in the middle. Paid 160 for it when SFIV first dropped and they were hard as fuck to find. I was hesitant to spend so much on a Mad Catz product (and even more tempted to flip it on ebay for 500 bucks), but it's a sweet stick (nohomo) and well worth it. As an added bonus, you can hook it up to your PC. You might want to wait for the SUPER versions though:
@Doddsino- I play on my lap for hours at a time and have never had any problems

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with all three systems. I don't see a problem with it especially if you really like a certain game on a certain system. People can spend their money on whatever the hell they want.

Well the original TE retailed for 150 so I'm guessing the SUPER version will be the same.

Why do they always use that stupid ball grip on the joystick? The elongated ball, the one used on most fighting arcade machines, is far superior, and I doubt it costs much more to use instead.
My description sucks. This one:

Gosh, that's pretty expensive. Almost as much as a new system.

I guess I must be getting fuckin old. I have a PS1, and that's enough for me. I take that back, my PS1 crapped out and a friend of mine gave me his PS2. But I still only have PS1 games.

I used to use the SNES Advantage joystick all the time and that was awesome. I'd totally use an arcade stick for any game I possibly could, so I approve of the purchases FNJ.

I had the NES Advantage and it sucked for some games but was awesome with others. It's a preference thing I guess.

I've never been able to get the hang of joysticks and b, I suck at fighting games when there's arcade style controls.

The ball top is the Japanese style whereas the bat top is American. It's a preference thing. The TE stick is modeled after the Japanese SF IV cabinet (Vewlix) so that's why it has a ball top. The stick is a Sanwa JLF so you can easily replace the ball top with a bat top if you prefer.

This.
also, now that I am aware of the existence of the SUPER sticks, I'm going to wait and get one of those instead of the SFIV one, as that looks more in line with the other two. The tekken stick looks pretty rad too, but I'm not devoted enough to tekken to want one.

Couldn't you just get the plate for the tekken stick and replace it if you wanted?

Never been a fan of fight sticks. I'm a console guy. And arcade controls suck when they're not anchored to an immovable cabinet.

im sure they'll be fine sitting on a coffee table, especially given the size and weight of them. I have a friend that's buying that X-arcade stick that someone posted and building a table for it to sit in. I feel that's excessive.

Lifetime warranty.
Made with real Happs Arcade parts.
Works with everything. PC/PS1-3/XB/X360/GC/etc (Some adapters included, others you may have to buy.)

The difference between using a high end stick and the default 360 controller is night and day in SF IV. Some combos are impossibly difficult to pull off on the controller because of the button layout, not to mention the d-pad/analog stick are both horrible options. Also the TE stick weighs 6.5 lbs. The thing is built like a tank and if you stick it on a table it's not moving anywhere.
X-arcades are widely known to suck. Cheap parts (imitation Happ), lousy button layout and input lag issues. Stay away.

Well, my buddies are big into fighters. Big enough to go to national championships.
(Which is one reason I don't play fighters )
They make their own joysticks. As it provides a better quality product for a price that's often cheaper than most "regular" joysticks.
There's a few different ways to go about it. The easiest is buying a cheap one and modding it to make it better by swapping out buttons, sticks, moving things around, etc.
I'd suggest looking that up, it's apparently pretty easy.

I guess I've never played it at a place with a coffee table. Anytime I've had to use one, it sat in my lap, and it sucked.
The stick is only better because the people who make Street Fighter are retarded. There is absolutely no need for 360 and 720 stick spins.
Another reason I don't like the stick is because of earlier games like Donkey Kong, Contra, Pac-Man, and Burger Time. Those are so much better with a D-Pad. So much. So I decided early on that arcade sticks are a complete fucking waste of time, and I never got over it. Plus, with fighting games, I've played on too many broken machines.

Even though the NES Advantage was cool, how many games did anyone beat with one?
