You know, BPS had a great working relationship with Nintendo, and they even got Nintendo characters into Tetris. Why the hell couldn't they have slapped Mario into Pipe Dream?

That was an awesome article. I consider myself to know a shit ton about Mario and I never even heard of that game. Here I was thinking the 100th article was going to be on Mario Paint, boy was I off.

Great article. I'm kinda curious why you chose this as your 100th, though.

Well, I am a lifelong Nintendo fan, and by extension, Mario. Without the Nintendo Entertainment System, this site wouldn't exist. Also, I wanted to do something unique for the 100th article. I had discovered this game around the time I did my SMB2J article, and I was annoyed by the lack of information on it out there. I wondered why no one had done any serious research on it. So I figured, hey, why don't I do the research? So I got to write about my favorite gaming franchise, and I got to provide my site with unique content. It was win/win for me.

This is a great idea, that's how I found this site, through an external link on the Adventure Island Wikipedia page. Someone fucking deleted it from the external links section and I see no mention of it in the history or talk page, fuckers! Mad

Self published articles are not valid sources, and being a source doesn't establish notability anyways.

As I've said, find some outside independent sources that mention the site, and I can have a Wiki page in a day. And it'll stick.

That should probably be deleted, actually. That area is for articles in development, and that one hasn't been worked on in a long time.

Wikipedia is not fucking advertising space, people. It's not a big fucking deal to have a page there.

True, but offers a degree of legitimacy. If you don't have a Wikipedia page, you're not important. And it's hurtful when a faceless hierarchy of liberal nitwits tells you're not important enough to have a page on their site.

Syd, you should probably put an announcement at the top of the main page or something, because a lot of readers who aren't on the forums will check the main page, not scroll down, and leave.

Unless you're willing to allow everyone to have a page on your site, I'm not sure I'd make that statement.

There's a huge misconception that since anyone can make a Wikipedia page, everything should have one. It's bull. There's guidelines for inclusion, and it's a pretty fair standard: have someone else write about you. Not having a page stick doesn't mean you're not important, it means that your importance can't be proven.

I really don't want to get into the ins and outs of wikipolitics, I'm just saying. Find someone out there who has written about the site that's not you or connected to you in some way, I can get you in. The Haddox article is a start, but something -about- the site itself would be perfect.

I'm willing to let anyone have a page on my wiki... so long as they join the forums.

See? You have standards.

I wouldn't take it personally. I would maybe send a few e-mails to some entertainment related publications and e-publications.

I got a rom of this game when I got my DS modded to play NES games.

I really shouldn't have gotten rid of it. It sure is neat to hear more about it.

Awesome article Syd. I finally got around to really reading it thoroughly, and am seriously impressed. (I do agree you should probably post another link to it on the front page, just in case though.)

Now, did you actually play the game, or just research it? I'm just curious since its so rare, and I can't tell if you took those screenshots, or if they're someone elses'.

I actually played it, and took the screenshots. Sadly, I do not own a physical copy. But with the exception of the SNES 100 List, where I snagged about twenty screenshots off Mobygames due to time constraints rather than playing through the games to get the shots I wanted, I always take my own screenshots.

There's actually a copy of this available on ebay for like a $60 BIN, although it was only released on the Famicom as the article said, not the NES, so that doesn't really help any of us.

^ Well, it would be cool as a collector's item if you're into that kind of thing I suppose.

Very cool, Syd--I rather assumed that was the case. Emulated, then?

Jeebus, link? I can't find it. Also, it's a Famicom Disk System game. I'd need both the Famicom and the FDS to play it. But I'd be willing to snag a Twin Famicom to do so.

Yeah, Hawk. And even if I did have the physical game, I'd still employ emulation for screenshot purposes. In terms of ease and clarity, it's really the only way to go for console/arcade screenshots. I guess when you throw DOSBox into the mix, it's really the only way to go for screenshots of old PC games too.
