I like Russell Crowe and I really like Ridley Scott.
What I don't like is Russell Crowe AS Robin Hood. I know there was an early idea to cast him as the Sheriff of Nottingham, which was an awesome idea. How Crowe became Robin Hood is unknown to me. Maybe I'm just so used to the classic version of Robin Hood that I just can't accept this new one yet. I'll wait till I actually see the movie, but I just hope this one is at least better than the Kevin Costnar version. Hard to top "Men in Tights" though, IMO.

Supposedly a lot of Rickman's scenes were cut because Costner was jealous of how awesome he was.

I've heard that. And after watching the Costner jerk-off fest that is "Dances With Wolves," I can completely believe it.

Costner makes the right call sometimes. The director of 3,000 Miles To Graceland let Kurt Russell and Kevin Costner each make their own cut of the movie. Costner wanted it to be more of an action movie, Russell wanted it to focus on his relationship with his girlfriend and her son. Costner won out, and the result is one of the most underrated movies of the last decade.

Hey I liked "Dances With Wolves". It was probably one of the most important movies made at the time. Sure I probably could've done without Costner starring in it, but it didn't ruin the movie. It was probably the first movie to actually portray Native Americans in such a positive light. Goodfellas is a great movie too, but I think they made the right call with giving the Best Picture to Costner. I'm probably the only person to think so.

No, you're right. I came off as far too harsh there; I have nothing against the actual MOVIE itself. In fact I rather like it. I just can't stand all off the loooooong, liiinggering closeups of Costner's mug. That movie would have been what, like two hours if they had cut those.
But I heartily agree it was actually a quality flick, him aside.

And then there is the Postman. That movie is Mad Max on lithium.

Dances with Wolves and Field of Dreams were both ok, but for me it doesn't get any better than when Kevin Costner drinks his own piss in Waterworld.
Also, the Disney version with the animals is still my favorite Robin Hood.

Friar Tuck was the only person in "Prince of Thieves" who didn't have a mullet. He made up for it, though, by overacting.

Men in Tights... BEST ROBIN HOOD... EVAR!
Though I did enjoy Prince of Thieves when I watched it in film class, only because Costner's "Bostoish" accent had me dying. And Hans Gruber FTW

I still can't accept Russell Crowe as Robin, it just doesn't fit for me. Robin Hood shouldn't be pushing 50.

This. It just doesn't work.
I think someone would have been more believable as Robin.

The only reason this even looks like fucking Robin Hood at all is that he has a bow and arrow.
