So um yeah, you can't just say that hair metal was always crappy, then A) disqualify anything that's good as not hair metal and B) never have lived with the stuff in the first place.

There's plenty of hair metal that's good, or at least enjoyable to listen to (whitesnake, and def leppard occasionally), and it really helps if you grew up with the hair metal when it was in. You'd like Ratt too if you lost your virginity at a Ratt concert. Music, music tastes, and music opinions are as much the result of the experience that occurred when you first sampled them, and anyone who tells you different has misjudged their own personal biases.

I say this having a friend who swears their objective on music, then declares and down that "And you will know us by trail of dead" is one of the best bands ever and that Radiohead will be played one hundred years from now. You'll get the same effect from baby boomers, when they try to foist their easy listening hippy crap on you, as if every generation is nothing more than a progressively worse copy of theirs.
