A month ago in an interview with Peter Dille, senior vice president of marketing, SCEA said the following:
Oct 20, 2006
BIZ: I know you guys have previously talked about a PSP emulation service where PS1 titles would be downloaded directly to the PSP (for example, if someone didn't own a PS3). This new PS3 download service of PS1 titles, which involves transferring to the PSP, is not going to replace the previous PSP emulation plan is it?
PD: You are correct. We'll still have that. We have the PSP downloads site now, and you're right; these PS1 games will be available either from the PSP downloads site directly, so you don't need a PS3 to get them or if you do happen to be one of the lucky guys that gets a PS3, you can download the games to your PS3 hard drive and then slide it over to your PSP. Both services will be up and running.
But if you check the 2.01 firmware manual online, today:
http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psp/current/game/emugame.html
You will find this:
Play PLAYSTATION®Network titles downloaded from (PLAYSTATION®Store). A PLAYSTATION®3 system is required to use this feature.
Fuck you, SONY!!!!!
I have been waiting and waiting for the PSone emulator for the PSP, so maybe I would finally have a use for my $250 paperweight. But, now I have to pay an extra $500-$600. Fuck you... Here's one less PSP owner, and one more PSP going up on Ebay!

I extend this offer to you: try the Wii and it's virtual console system (which offers way more titles, because it has more systems). It's only $250 for a Wii, anyway, so you can use some of the PSP money, and some of your own, to buy one.

In the words of Skeletor: Everything comes to he who waits... and I have waited so very long for this moment.
I guess my point is that a PS3 might just be a half decade down the road... and paperweights never go out of style.
And I'll give you $125 for it!

I was hoping to play such favorites portibly, such as Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo 2, Castlevania SOTN, Suikoden I+II, and The PSX Final Fantasies.... Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep using my PC and PS2 to do so.
Well, if anyone is interested, and lives in the Portland, OR area, I have my PSP up for sale at Craigslist.org.
$250 OBO gets you:
PSP console (Hardly used, with
Chargers
2 Memory sticks: 32mb and 256mb (I have a 1gb, but I'm keeping that for my PC. )
Metal Gear Ac!d
Metal Gear Digital Graphic Novel
Hot Shots Golf
Popolucrios (Or however you spell it)
Smackdown! vs Raw 2006
"Labrynth" UMD Movie
Soft style carrying case
Headphones w/ remote.

You might want to wait until this new Metal Gear comes out to seel it. It takes place 6 years after Snake Eater and you can recuirt up to 3 enemies over to your side through interrogation in a truck. However, I can definately understand your annoyance, similar to the bad news the first draft Wiis won't have DVD capabilities.
Who would have a $250 obo? It's a musical instrument

I'm torn... I, uh, hate the PSP (irrational fanboyism FTW!). Hell, I sold ALL of the games I owned for it to pay off "Gears of War" in full. Now it's used primariliy for... other things. But, yeah, MGS: Portable Ops looks pretty good.
I feel like I'd be betraying my DS, though. I love that little guy...

Nope. I talked to the guys at game stop, and between the System and the games, I can get enough trade in to get a DS for free! (Well, basically. I would get $142 in trade in credit.)
So, now I am thinking that route, because I think my fiance would like the DS because she loves all the SNES mario games, and her favorite is Yoshi's Island, which they have a sequel for on DS.
I don't know... If I get rid of it, I will miss playing "River City Ransom" (NES), and "Lords Of Conquest" (Commodore 64) on the go.
What should I do!?!
